Statkraft started out as a hydroelectric facility in Norway more than 125 years ago and is now a global enterprise in 21 countries including here in Ireland where it is developing a large offshore wind project in the Irish Sea.   Speaking to Joe on the show about their business Kevin O'Donovan is a Senior Vice President at Statkraft and Managing Director of UK and Ireland.

There are 187 insurance and reinsurance companies operating in Ireland at the moment but a new report for the sector has found that our attractiveness as a location may be set to decline.  The Milliman report says that the lack of skilled workers and the regulatory regime may deter future entrants into the market here.   Moyagh Murdock from Insurance Ireland joined Joe on the show this morning.

The Dublin stock exchange is supposed to be where large listed companies float their shares and allow Irish-based investors to establish their value.  The Exchange is itself a business and makes money from those listings. But something is happening in the Dublin Stock Exchange - now known as Euronext Dublin.  Giant Irish companies like CRH and Smurfit Kappa are delisting and relisting in the much bigger US markets. Flutter could soon follow them and even Ryanair has threatened to do so as well.  So is this the beginning of the end of the Dublin stock exchange?  Joining Joe on the show this morning was Daryl Byrne is the chief executive of Euronext Dublin. 

We’re only a day away from the budget - Fianna Fail’s first in 13 years and this coalition’s 4th.  Much of what will be announced has been flagged up in advance.  Additional Children's allowance payments looked almost baked in. Billions will be stowed away for the next inevitable downturn and some sort of inducement for landlords to stay in the private rental sector also seems likely.  But what will SMEs expect? Neil Mcdonnell the Chief executive of ISME spoke to Joe this morning on the show.

Enet is the wholesale broadband provider which emerged from the government’s regional connectivity programme.  It now provides internet services to the likes of Sky and Vodafone and works alongside the National Broadband initiative with what are known as Metropolitan Area Networks. Now it’s been bought by a US private equity group.  Speaking to Joe this morning on the show was John Gilvarry the COO of Enet .
