National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was interviewed for Fox News by Andrew O'Reilly, on September 4, 2019. Earlier that week, Utah State Senator Deidre Hederson announced that she would be proposing a new bill in the coming January 2020 session to reduce the crime of polygamy from a felony to an infraction (i.e., equivalent to a parking ticket). The purpose of the proposed bill would be to empower polygamists to feel safe from prosecution to report real crimes without fear of their families being jailed and separated. This interview sought Mark Henkel's "take" on this proposed bill. While being hopeful, he intentionally lowered expectations with pessimism by explaining the larger problem of that geographic area: the religiocentric "Mormonland Bubble" of Utah/Arizona (et al) does not believe in "separation of church and state."
