And that they can be healed now? I am always fascinated to learn about my inner voice, brain function, and how my life today may be affected by past traumas. Things like self-criticism, insomnia, nightmares, intrusive memories, shame and struggles with self-compassion are all little-known aftereffects of emotional trauma. The coolest thing is with the knowledge from relational neuroscience, we can all take action to resolve trauma and make our brains good places to live.
