Simon Wilson is an incredibly interesting guy, with an incredibly interesting story. He was born in Redcar, England, made his way to London when he was sixteen years old, and eventually ended up in Dana Point, California where he currently resides. Simon has worked in professional motorcycle racing, took a job as a tennis pro to make the move to the US, and ended up touring with the PGA as a tour managing rep for a major golf company until about three years ago when he decided he wanted to start making wine. Although he only just started his wine business about four years ago, his first release, which is the Old Acre 2013 Rutherford Bench Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve and came out last year, is making waves in the industry scoring points in the 92 to 93 range. Anything over 90 points is a very difficult score for a wine to obtain in general, but to receive those scores for the first wine from a new wine maker is near unheard of.
