Throughout high school and college I dove into Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and now (even as a millennial) TikTok. When I got into prevention work back in 2014, I began to LOVE social media. People around the world were using the internet to speak out against injustices. They spread awareness to millions of people instantly. Survivors sharing their stories, awareness surrounding taboo topics like abuse, and so many resources to help others. But I'll have to admit...social media has begun to frustrate me. I've seen thousands of posts with the hashtags "save our children/save the children" with seemingly no action steps people can take to actually help.
