On this week’s episode, I look at the Toys R Us collapse. It seemed like, in 2018, Toys R Us, collapsed overnight. Its stores were shuttered. Parking lots emptied. The iconic Geoffrey the Giraffe… gone.The reality is, Toys R Us had always been a troubled organization, ever since it opened its doors. It had never built bench strength. It had never built core resilience into its structures, it’s operating models, even its assets. The final blow to Toys R Us might not have taken out another organization.
