    11/10/2020 Duración: 01h19min

This is the 12th message of a series in 2 Peter. In 2 Peter 3, Peter looks at 2 different views of the return of Jesus Christ. Believers remember it and look forward to it. Others scoff at the idea and mock it. Peter directly addresses the objections of the second group with logic and appeals to Scripture. Scoffers are ignorant because they choose to ignore certain facts of the Bible and history. Pastor Robert Rohlin explains these views and how a belief in the Lord Jesus Christ should affect us as Christians. In 2 Peter 2:17-22, Peter talks about the wake of destruction left by false teachers. There are different types of false teachers and the results are different on believers and unbelievers. This message helps us understand a key truth -- that every thought of man should be tested against the Word of God. Men are fallible; God's Word is not. Even noted Christian writers such as C.S. Lewis had major theological flaws refuted by the Word of God. So spiritual discernment is needed to sort the good from the bad. Pastor Rober Rohlin looks at Peter's explanations of the characteristics of false teachers and discusses what we can do to ensure that we are not misled. Pastor Robert Rohlin is the executive pastor of First Baptist Church Las Colinas in Irving TX -- a family integrated church in the Baptist Missionary Association.

  • 09-Propheting for Profit, Part 3

    12/07/2020 Duración: 01h06min

This is part 3 of a study in 2 Peter 2. In verses 4-9 we have 3 examples of the certainty of God's judgment that will also fall upon false prophets and false teachers. Peter also gives us 2 examples of God saving out His own people even in the midst of judgment. These stories also demonstrate that God saves imperfect people and keeps them secure even when they truly fail God. But being an imperfect follower is a far cry from being a false follower or a false teacher. Pastor Rober Rohlin looks at Peter's explanations of the characteristics of false teachers and discusses what we can do to ensure that we are not misled. 28/06/2020 Duración: 01h19min

This is part 2 of a study in 2 Peter 2:1-3 where Peter begins addressing the problems of false teachers and false prophets -- a problem that is still placing a major impact on Christianity today. In 2 Peter 2, Peter makes a significant shift in the topics covered so far to begin a long passage warning his readers of the dangers of false prophets and teachers. Even today, there are so many people speaking falsely from popular pulpits to "tickle the ears" of those hearing their teaching. But these teachers are not giving the truth of God's Word. They appear like angels of light to their audience but inwardly are preaching a message that will destroy the audience and themselves. Pastor Rober Rohlin looks at Peter's explanations of the characteristics of false teachers and discusses what we can do to ensure that we are not misled. • 1 Corinthians 14--The confusion over tongues

    24/05/2020 Duración: 45min

Dr. Steven Woodworth teaches a family Bible study on 1 Corinthians 14 and discusses the difficult subject of tongues. It was a gift of speaking in a known language used to confirm to the Jews that they had rejected the Messiah and that the Holy Spirit of God fell upon believers. Then it seems to have devolved into an unknown language and Paul said he would rather speak 1 word of God's truth in a known language than 10,000 in an unknown language. Paul gives guidelines in 1 Corinthians 14 on the use of tongues -- and if believers who claim to have that gift today followed the guidelines, then they would remain silent. Dr. Woodworth is a professor of history at Texas Christian University and Liberty University. (For a deeper look at spiritual gifts, please listen to the entire series on spiritual gifts. • 05-Memory and Majesty of God's Word

    17/05/2020 Duración: 01h06min

In 2 Peter 1:12-17, Peter ties together how the Incarnate Word -- Jesus Christ -- is tied to the Word of God that we have in the Bible. All 66 books of the Bible were written by those who were eyewitnesses of Jesus Christ and His work in the New Testament or eyewitnesses of Jehovah in His dealings with people in the Old Testament. The Scripture canon was closed when the last of the eyewitnesses passed from the scene. Also, Peter knew that he was dying soon, but in this passage is one of the greatest comforts for any funeral service anywhere -- because our exit from this world facilitates a far more glorious entrance into the next phase of our life -- our eternal life -- if we have received Christ. Peter also recounts what he saw on the Mount of Transfiguration. There is a reason that he wanted to build 3 tabernacles that day -- the right idea but with the wrong timing. That experience made Peter passionate about the subject of the Second Coming of Christ. And it made him passionate to keep on reminding peopl
