God With Us Epilogue: The Three Gardens The message of the Bible is really pretty simple. God lost something, and He wants it back. That’s the story in 8 words. And while it is a big love story, God tells it in a lot of little chapters. As we complete our God With Us journey, we take one last look at this love story by observing the three gardens where the major acts in the story play out. The three gardens are spaced perfectly in the story — one at the beginning, one in the middle, and one at the end. When you stand in these gardens, the whole love story unfolds. God With Us: Revelation, Week 4 God With Us Jesus repeatedly said that He would come a second time. Here is the fulfillment of His promise. This final act of revelation and judgment sees the Son of God descending from heaven to establish His righteous rule upon the Earth. In one powerful appearing He destroys the remnants of Satan’s kingdom in the battle of Armageddon, after which He establishes His righteous administration upon the Earth for a period of 1,000 years, prior to the onset of the eternal kingdom. The time has come for those on earth to give an account for their rejection of the gracious offer of God’s love, demonstrated so clearly in the cross of His Son, Jesus Christ. God With Us: Revelation, Week 1 The Glorified Lord Addresses His Churches The book of Revelation is about the return of Christ and the revealing that His is the King of kings and Lord of lords. That's what "The apocalypse of Jesus Christ" means - the unveiling of Jesus Christ. While the words of Revelation were for the whole world to read, they were originally sent to the seven churches of Asia Minor, over whom the author, John, presided as bishop. The exalted Lord’s first order of business was to address the current condition of these churches He calls His “lampstands.” They were His witnesses to the world, thus He was concerned with their condition and the quality of the light they are shining forth. God With Us: Later Letters, Week 13 Walking in the Truth Much like a modern postcard, Second and Third John are very short letters that would have fit on a single sheet of papyrus. John's brevity was due to his audience - people that he was hoping to visit "face to face" in the near future. Second John is addressed to “the chosen lady,” likely a reference to the church in a certain city. Third John is addressed to Gaius, who was a leader in a local church (equivalent to a modern day “pastor”). Both letters continue a theme from First John, namely the need for believers to “walk in truth” amidst heresies that were threatening the churches. God With Us: Later Letters, Week 12Walking in Love Love is central to who God is, and is a big focus of the Apostle John's theology. Of all the letters in the New Testament, John gives the most attention to the theme that love for others is proof of one’s love for God. Various forms of the word “love” occur 34 times in this short letter – significantly more than other New Testament epistles of similar length. As God's true children come to resemble Him more and more, they will show increasing evidence of God’s love in their character. Mother's Day 2021The Woman God Uses to Change the World Sunday is Mother's Day, and since we’re about to complete our journey through the whole Bible in the God With Us series, it seems fitting to focus on the woman who stands at the center of the whole story — the woman God used to save the world – Mary, the mother of Jesus. What can we learn from her about the way God uses women in our world? We'll explore that question this weekend.

He lived many decades after the other apostles, and was key in the establishment and growth of the first-century church. In the first section of 1 John, we see that faith must be founded on a true view of Jesus, obedience to God is evidence that we truly know Him, and Love for people and love for God go hand in hand. False teachers were infiltrating the churches introducing destructive heresies and immoral practices. Both Peter and Jude felt compelled to address these issues. As protection, Peter specifically encourages believers to focus on their spiritual growth and underscores the importance of God's Word. God With Us: Later Letters, Week 9 Hope Fixed on God The overall theme of this letter is that our greatest testimony will often come through our greatest trials. At the time of its writing, some believers were suffering severely, and Peter was challenging them to keep their hope fixed on God. Even though this world might mistreat them for their faith in Christ and deprive them of justice, they would surely be rewarded in the next. Empty is Good – Easter at Oak Pointe Usually, we think of emptiness as a bad thing; a negative. Like when your refrigerator is out of groceries, or your closet is empty because all your clothes are in the hamper. But many times, emptiness can also be a good thing; a positive. Like when you find that empty parking space in the first row at the grocery store, or discover that $20 bill in your pants pocket (before it goes through the wash). Yes, empty can be bad or good. But as far as Easter goes, the empty tomb of Jesus is a very good thing. Because with the empty tomb – with the resurrection of Jesus – some very good things come to us, and those things all add up to new life!

Palm Sunday Our Expectation of Jesus People have always come to Jesus for a variety of reasons. Many come to Him because of the miracles He’s done in their lives. Others come for the meaning and purpose He gives. Looking at Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, we will examine the manner in which we come to Jesus. Do we come expecting Jesus to conform to our lifestyle? Or, will we follow a crucified Jesus who calls us to take up our cross and follow Him?

God With Us: Later Letters, Week 81 Peter 1 - Testimony Through Trials Written to Christians who were scattered throughout the five provinces of Asia, this letter was received by believers enduring serious persecution. Peter, the unlikely leader of the early Christian church, encourages them to trust God through their suffering while continuing to proclaim the reality of their faith in Christ. God With Us: Later Letters, Week 7 Hebrews #3 - The Supremacy of Christ As the letter of Hebrews concludes, the focus moves to having a faith that trusts God no matter what is happening on earth, and regardless how difficult it becomes to maintain allegiance to Him. To inspire that kind of faith, the writer commends to us an extended list of Old Testament heroes who held fast to their faith in God amidst the challenging circumstances of life. God With Us: Later Letters, Week 6 Hebrews #2 - The Supremacy of Christ In the religious life of Israel, the High Priest was the most important person, for he mediated the relationship between the people and God. In the second section of Hebrews, Jesus is identified as the Father’s supremely appointed High Priest who offers the perfect sacrifice for sins. But because this supreme high priest is also sympathetic with our weaknesses, we are encouraged to draw near Him to receive the mercy and grace we so desperately need in times of vulnerability and trial. God With Us: Later Letters, Week 5 Hebrews #1 - The Supremacy of Christ In the first century, pressure from Rome was making it increasingly difficult to be a Christian. As a result, some believers were fleeing for safety back into the “legal” religion they had come out of – Judaism. Written to those Jewish Christians considering abandoning their faith, the book of Hebrews makes the argument that Jesus Christ is superior to anyone or anything that they might turn back to, including angels, Moses, and the Old Testament priests and prophets.
