Every person is made in the Image of God. Every image bearer has dignity, worth, and capacity. Being made in the image of God means you have inherent worth. It also means you have inherent capacity- abilities, ideas, assets, and solutions. In all of our Outreach efforts, we seek to define others by this identity of "image bearer". If we define others by their deficiencies or treat them as passive recipients of someone else’s help, it rejects their dignity as image bearers. "Dignity " means we involve everyone as participants, as equals. If we change our paradigm for understanding poverty from a resources framework to a relational framework, then we will focus on the practice of reconciliation rather than the distribution of resources. "Shalom" is the biblical concept of wholeness. Shalom is physical, spiritual, emotional, and social harmony everywhere. As followers of Jesus, we seek justice to bring shalom to life. In this series, we're walking through the biblical concepts of justice and shalom, and highlighting partners in our city who are doing the work.

As we unleash the love of Jesus in our homes, workplaces, city, and church, we want to be the answer to Jesus' prayer in John 17. "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." John 17:20-21 We want to be a church that leads in facilitating unity among diverse churches in the ‘Ville because, as Jesus said, our unity will be attractive to a divided world. How does a group of people from all different backgrounds, of all different ages, of all different socio-economic situations, come together as one? Jesus is how.

We've all heard the adage, "It's easy to overestimate what you can accomplish in one year, and even easier to underestimate what you can do in five." At Northeast, want to be obedient in becoming who we believe the Lord is calling us to be as a church. In this introductory message, Tyler gives an overview of the ten "aspirational vision targets" that we are strategizing towards for the next five years. It's our hope that five years from now, we can look back and see how God has moved in our church and grown us together in these key areas. This week, we're focusing on the first target: "We want to be a congregation who knows, honors, and reads the Bible."

Today we're hearing from a panel of parents who are all at different stages in their parenting journeys.

Life is full of firsts. Naturally, parenting is too. From your baby's first steps across the living room to their first steps out into the world as an adult, your children will experience many things for the very first time. As a parent, you have a role in how these "firsts" contribute to the formation of your child. The experiences they have are largely out of your control, but you can help form them as they slowly become adults who experience life for themselves. Today, we're thinking through how you can contribute to your child's spiritual formation by discipling them through all the "firsts" along the way.

If you want to raise kids that are leaders of consequence in the kingdom of God, you need a plan. But before you make a plan, you need to catch a vision. This week of Intentional Parenting is super practical. Whether you still have kids in your home or not, you'll learn how to catch a vision for intentional parenting, identify your values, and make a plan to help you stay on track. There's no such thing as the perfect parent, but it is possible and necessary to be an intentional one. So how is it done? Guest Speaker, Mark Moore, concludes our Summer of Prayer series. Praying for the lost always has a cost. If you're a "sideline" Christian, the cost to your comfort, relationships, and time will be too high. Mark walks through four different types of prayers Jesus prayed, and poses a challenge to all who claim to follow Jesus: are you willing to follow in Jesus' footsteps and pay the cost to reach the lost?

Prayers of adoration remind us of the character of God. This week, we're looking at examples from Scripture of what it looks like to adore and praise God through prayer.

Seeking control is not the solution to the human condition. It's the problem. Fear happens when you feel out of control. So how do you overcome fear? The logical answer may be to seek more control over every little detail of life, micromanaging until there is nothing left to fear. But this "control" is an illusion, and all it takes is one unexpected turn to feel afraid and out of control all over again. The solution? Be honest about your lack of control and lean in to the grace of "withness" through prayer. Prayer is simply being with God, sharing your unfiltered thoughts with him. If you want to overcome fear and control, you can't do it alone; you must learn the practice of "withness".
