i tunes stitcher Big Island native Brandon Lee is raising organic Berkshire pigs sustainably, and his goal is to create the optimal pig for Hawaiian cooking. To create a healthy environment, Lee uses an open pasture system and rotational grazing. After the pigs graze in a field, chickens run through and eat all the fleas and maggots that have developed in the dirt, creating a clean pasture: There’s no stench, and the pigs are free of pests. Goats are the next animals up in the rotation; they come through to eat the weeds. Steve moved on to become the editorial director of Surfline/Swell.com, from 1999 to 2001, he then helped start the Tony Hawk Foundation, a charitable group co-founded by Steve's younger brother Tony. In 1974 he co-founded the Institute for Transpersonal Pyschology, and has since continued to explore potential medical and creative uses of psychedelic drugs. In his most recent book, The Psychedelic Explorer's Guide: Safe, Therapeutic and Sacred Journeys (2011), he provides insight into safe and correct uses of psychedelic drugs. The book was inspired by his unique knowledge of psychedelic experiences and his desire to explain beneficial uses of those substances. He received his B.A. from Harvard University in Social Relations in 1960, and his M.A. and Ph.D from Stanford University in Psychology in 1962 and 1965, respectively.
