Today we talked briefly about the way the mainstream media and social media covered what’s now being called “the Sydney siege”. There are now whole articles about the extent of the various rumours circulating yesterday.    Also liked a tweet from someone called Dobes that marvelled at the fact that Twitter had managed to accumulate so many experts on sieges.   There was a fascinating flurry of excitement late last night after people on Twitter offered to support people who were nervous about travelling on public transport and they devised the illridewithyou hashtag, which had the interesting result that everything was positive and constructive for about five minutes before people started criticising it for being narcissistic and making a hostage situation all about how great Twitter was.    There was also the question of the flag displayed in the window of the cafe, described almost universally in the early stages as an "islamic" flag. Stupidly Small : 20: The Worst Podcast We'll Ever DoToday, we had a launch party, to launch the Stupidly Big media empire. People turned up. Lots of people. We love those people. It's the worst podcast we'll ever do. Some of the lowlights are: the bit where Stew apologises for reading a note on his phone. The bit where Lorin starts a story and it doesn't go anywhere. The bit where the sound drops out and we talk about it for ages. A strange religious interlude that Stew made up that doesn't mean anything.We didn't even get Stupidly Bins right. It's bin night tonight in Reservoir. Today we discussed haircuts, movies and sitting down. Apparently a hair surgeon isn't what we thought it was.   The name of the movie the excellent Mel Campbell sat through was Exodus: Gods and Kings. It didn't star Webster.   The Prime Minister's Smugenfreude festival last night resulted in a win for Richard Flanagan and the Indigenous Literary Foundation. Bob Graham, who writes beautiful kids' books, donated a big chunk of his fee to the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre.   It's bin night in Castlemaine.
