This Fall we will work through 1 Corinthians. The book was written by Paul to a church he planted in Corinth, Greece. This church was far from perfect, in fact it was full of conflict and challenges! Which makes it a helpful church for us - to see what advice Paul gave them! In this sermon we look at the situation in and around this church.

Our usual image of Jesus doesn't include thoughts of a ferocious lion! He is meek and kind and serving - washing feet. So what do we learn from this name for Jesus?

Today we begin three weeks of looking at names for Jesus. The first name is perhaps the most puzzling: WORD. We will look at some backgrounds that explain why this name was perfect when John first used it - and why it still has an important message for us today.

Almost all of the names of God speak to how great or powerful He is. God's greatness doesn't always make us feel comfortable in approaching Him. Jesus changed all that for us when He taught us to call God, "Abba."

God is a shepherd for His people. He cares, He protects, He provides. Our welfare is one of His top priorities. Is it any wonder that the 23rd Psalm is one of the most popular passages in all of the Bible?!

A banner has always been a place where we focus our attention. It is a point around which to rally. We have a God who gives us not only direction and purpose but also confidence.

In this series, there are two names of God introduced in the New Testament. One of them is not mentioned until the last book of the Bible, Revelation. God Himself says that He is the Alpha and Omega. In this sermon we'll learn what He was talking about - and what we need to learn about God.

God is huge, unmovable, totally reliable. We have already seen that when we looked at God Almighty. But God, this rock, is also a place of safety for each of us. God is very personal as well!

In life we face many difficult times. That's not new. People have always faced times of testing in life. The promise we have is that God is a God who will provide!

A woman was in a deep crisis. She felt all alone and abandoned - no hope. Then God came to her and she new everything was going to be OK. She told God, "You see me!" That's our God!

We think of a lot of gifts to give our Dads. And they ask for some gifts they want like fishing rods or golf clubs or... But the one gift they want the most never get's mentioned. Today we look at why respect is what men need the most.

God is not just the Powerful Creator we saw last week. He is also the unmovable God that cannot be shaken. He will always be there for us, as he was for Abraham and Sarah who were childless at 99! God still gave them a son! He is God Almighty!

God doesn't have just one name. In the Bible there are actually dozens of names for God. Why? Because there is so much to be said about God. The more we know His names, the more we will understand just how amazing and wonderful God is.

The incredible good news of Easter is not for us to keep to ourselves. We are to share it, tell others. That means we not only need to get to know our neighbors, we need to "BLESS" them. Listen to find out what that means!

Mom's have an incredibly hard job today. There's one gift every family can give their mom that would make all the difference in the world for her. Today we'll look at that gift, and how to give it to her.

Youth are facing pressures and challenges more difficult than any previous generation. The stress is showing. But there is hope, if we will see this as an opportunity for Jesus to change lives through us, the church, camp, and the power of God!

When we win, especially if we win big, we can't wait to share the exciting news! Last Sunday Christians WON BIG! The question for every Christian: are we sharing that good news?

If Jesus did in fact rise from the dead - if those first disciples were right - then that changes everything. We'll look how it changed their lives - and how it can change our lives!

A total stranger was forced by the Romans to carry Jesus' cross on the way to Calvary. We know his name, Simon, because his life was changed forever by this painful task. Simon was the first of many, because we too are asked to carry a cross for Jesus. We'll look today at what that means, and why it is important for us as well.

Peter seemed to often end up running ahead of Jesus, often in a direction Jesus wasn't even going in! This sermon looks at a lesser known incident - when Peter cut off a man's ear to save Jesus. Except, Jesus didn't need Peter to save Him. The story is important because we all struggle with trying to tell God what we are certain He should do for us! Could we be wrong some times?
