Andy D and Anna Vision
04/10/2016By day, Andy Duncan works a traditional job for a non-profit, but when he and his wife hit the stage, they become "Andy D and Anna Vision" . The Indianapolis based couple just returned from three years of touring Europe with their "over the top- homage to the New York Disco Night Club Scene of the 80's". In our October Small Studio Session, you'll hear a collection of Andy D's electroclash songs: The Music Takes, Teddy Roosevelt (Part 1), and Hey Tina (Pick Up The Phone). 05/07/2016Austin, Texas based roots blues musician Scott H. Biram regularly stops in Indiana during his worldwide tours. Biram recorded an acoustic session at WFYI’s Small Studio before his show at The HiFi in Fountain Square earlier this year. Scott H. Biram plays a medley of tunes in this session, and shares a few stories about his music and life on the road as a touring musician. 03/05/2016WFYI’s May Small Studio Session features Indianapolis based and internationally acclaimed folk pop musicians, Lily & Madeleine. The sisters have a new album out, “Keep It Together.” The duo explores new territory in their third album, while maintaining their signature sound - with hypnotizing harmonies and thoughtful lyrics. 05/04/2016Earlier in 2016, WFYI, Sun King Brewery, and Broadway in Indianapolis offered an up and coming Indiana band the chance to play in the lobby of Clowes Hall during the theatrical run of “ONCE”—a play about an Irish singer and song writer looking for his big break. The winners of that contest are also this month’s featured Small Studio Session Band. Listen in for the pop rock tunes of Fort Wayne family band, Oferle. 01/03/2016She learned to play the keyboard as a toddler, toured the world as a teen and is part of the emerging music scene in her 20’s. Ko started her journey in indie rock in the Indianapolis scene, and is now based in Chicago. She is signed to Indianapolis based record label, Joyful Noise Recordings. The Whipstitch Sallies
13/05/2015Just what is a Whipstitch Sallie? WFYI asks three of the four female musicians (Upright Bass Player Kat Erickson wasn’t able to join the group this day) who perform Bluegrass Music under that name. “Some of the songs are so old they are called traditional because no one even knows who wrote them but there are also people who are writing it now.”, adds Allie Burbrink, who plays guitar, banjo, harmonica and founded the group with Sam in 2010. “ We’ve done a mix with traditional done in our own style and covering other peoples songs in our own style and trying to write our own based on things we like.”

28/04/2015Our first Small Studio Session is from The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band. In this session, you’ll hear "Hell Naw, Dirt," "We Live Dangerous" and "You’re Not Rich."
