This week, we talk about the California Rodeo and what we were doing for big week. Also, Oz thinks he's the Dr. Phil of Oldtown bars. 

In this episode, Oz tries to keep the beer under control after talking about the cops that were cleared of killing a 16 year old. So much for him trying to stay quiet about local politics.

For this Father's Day episode, we set up our equipment on a barrel at Alvarado Street Brewery and tried to look like we were having an intelligent conversation for an hour. Oz talks, again, about Salinas being a great soccer city and wanting to start an indoor soccer team then the story turns into reminiscing about drunk tank stories.  

In this episode, Oz is growing 6 chili plants and now he thinks he's going to change to world one chili plant at a time. We also talk about one of the advantages of the recent cannabis boom, cheap growing equipment!

This week, our guests are Lauryn and Adisa from Families of Color. They founded this group a couple of years ago after having trouble finding a bicycling group for their child that had other children that looked like him. It has now expanded into almost weekly events of different kinds that focus on families of color. This conversation was recorded outside the Steinbeck Center on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

This week we are guest free and back to our roots, talking about Salinas events! Oz almost manages to go through a whole episode without jumping on a soapbox about the government of Salinas, but we promise this is a short one.

In this episode, we sit down in the beer garden at the Alvarado Street production facility to talk with a couple of the home brewers from last weeks Steinbeck Home Brew Festival. Just in its second year, the festival is already getting a reputation as a place to sample some brews that might be on store shelves soon. We also try a durian fruit beer on the air, which was not as scary as Oz was making it out to be.

This week, we sit down with Jessica Mckillop to talk about the 2nd Annual Steinbeck Home Brew Festival happening on May 6 in Oldtown Salinas. Last years event was a huge success and this year sounds like it's going to be better. Dozens of home brewers have been working all year to win one of the several prizes up for grabs. Last year over 400 gallons of beer was served and this year will surpass that. Tickets are still available!!

This episode we talk with a couple of artists from Salinas, M7 and Toke. M7 was on the podcast recently and spoke about an open mic he was going to be hosting at the mall. He's back to tell us how it went and introduces us to Toke, whose art hangs at the store that hosted the open mic. Toke talks about his art and his love of using strange mediums to create new pieces of art.

In this episode, we sit down with Chris Rader the manager of Zeph's One Stop on South Main. Many of the people that drive by on Highway 68 may not even realize there is a bar that serves good beer and local wine. If you like the wine, you can find dozens of locally produced wines in their wine shop. This was a fun conversation about wine, Salinas, and hospitality, all on the most comfortable couch we have recorded on so far.

This week our guests are Trent Hodges and Rachel Saunders from the Big Sur Land Trust. Recently, Big Sur Land Trust purchased some of the Carr Lake property in the middle of Salinas which is yet another step in turning Carr Lake from a working farm into a beautiful urban park. This week our guests are local home brewers Jon and Will. These two guys are putting on a homebrew festival at St. Paul's Church on April 22. Beer always pairs great with food so there will also be a Banh Mi tent serving up delicious sandwiches. Both these guys have been brewing for several years now and Jon got started brewing in China. This was a fun conversation and we had several beer samples during the recording.

Events, events, events, that's what this episode is all about. With the weather warming up there are several events going on every week and this week we talk about what is coming up in April.

This is the event that kicks off the Spring and it was another good one.

Oz talks about how he thinks the FBI created the mafia then we shift into some really cool events coming up, even a couple of open mics starting up in Salinas.

The Road Trip is podcast-within-a-podcast that features a different local restaurant every time. In keeping with the food theme, we recorded this episode at the patio of 201 Main during their weekend brunch buffet.
