  • Tanglewood Church's Graduation Sunday Message

    19/05/2019 Duración: 25min

For the first time in my life, instead of giving a welcome at church I had the honor of actually bringing the message. Pastor Allen Stocks and his leadership team at Tanglewood Church invited me to speak on Graduation Sunday.  My message was entitled "Side to Side" which took some cues from the parable of the talents and the movie "Hitch".  Five key talking points:   Service to others leads to greatness  Master the mundane  Answering the question "why?"  Trust and happiness  And, the oxygen mask   Congratulations to this year's graduating class. I promise you'll have challenges ahead, but the opportunities to use your talents and contribute to this world are far greater.  Watch the message here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWV75-ltJMQ

  • Episode 32 - Interview with Bryan Hanks

    03/04/2018 Duración: 42min

On this episode of BJ Murphy 360, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Bryan Hanks. Bryan is the former Editor of the Kinston Free Press, has written for multiple national news outlets, and is an avid sports fan. We've worked together long enough that he's written both favorable and unfavorable editorials about policy/advocacy positions I've taken over the years. As you can tell we've got a great mutual respect for each other. I visited him at his home (full of Washington Redskins and UVA memorabilia) and we discussed sports, politics including Trump and the state of NC, and more. Our Rapid Fire Round included Lebron or Jordan, Coach K or Wooden, Wood Ducks or Indians, NC East or West BBQ, and when the first female POTUS could be sworn in. Then Bryan asks a Question of the Day that you do not want to miss! Oh, and you can spot our special guest? #toyoursuccess http://www.bjmurphy360.com http://www.magicmilemedia.com

  • Episode 31 - Algenon Cash is BACK!

    02/04/2018 Duración: 38min

On this episode of BJ Murphy 360, I sat down with Algenon Cash. He's a sought-after political commentator across the state, has chaired the North Carolina Energy Forum, and is the owner of Wharton Gladden - where they are now investing in the new Zesto restaurant in the Triad. We've done this at least once before and had great feedback, so here's another politically agitating, lighthearted, and fun episode for your viewing and educational pleasure. Algenon and I discuss: - North Carolina Leadership Forum - Guns & Mental Health - Trump & Stormy Daniels - Is POTUS keeping his campaign promises - Free Trade - $1.3 Trillion - 2018 NC Elections - 2020 NC Governor's Race And, in our Rapid Fire Round he's forced to choose between: - Socks or No Socks - Fight: Joe Biden v Donald J. Trump - Dollar or Cryptocurrency - Coca-Cola or Pepsi Be sure to listen and respond to Algenon's Question of the Day. Until next time here's to your success!

  • Episode 30 - Social Media Can't Replace Product's Quality

    08/03/2018 Duración: 09min

In today's episode, I'm driving from one client to a friend's house. I just left a client discussing marketing efforts on social media - timeline and advertising. One thing I found myself saying several times is that social media marketing can't replace your product's quality. Don't get me wrong, they have a great product. From the time a prospect clicks on your website, walks in your door, or calls the store, what happens next is on you. Social media is simply a great tool to get them there. And, in my opinion, is far out-pacing the attention game than traditional media. The reason I was visiting a friend is that he needed to understand why I believe he should be more focused on building a personal brand. Why should someone with incredible talent share them via a personal brand? Listen. :) www.bjmurphy360.com www.magicmilemedia.com

  • Episode 29 - Keynote Clips from School Admins Conference

    06/03/2018 Duración: 06min

Yesterday morning I had the privilege of chatting with the Lenoir County Public Schools Executive Office Professionals. We centered a lot of our conversation on leadership and teamwork. Here is a small clip of that 45-minute talk, where we discussed: - The power of God in our society, specifically through prayer vigils - How to stay positive regardless of the circumstances around you - Diffusing emotional conversations by understanding a logical response may not work - How and why I stopped asking the question Why? http://www.bjmurphy360.com http://www.magicmilemedia.com

  • Episode 17 - Give More Than You Receive

    28/02/2018 Duración: 13min

Why would followers keep coming back to your Facebook page if all they see is "Buy this" or "We're selling that"? We need to start adding more value to people's experiences with our pages. This will lead to brand ambassadors for your business or cause...much more likely than "buy, buy, buy". Also, I open up about being disappointed on the number of likes and listeners in the past, and why I've changed that attitude. I'm documenting a journey and the main thing is staying consistent with good content. During this discussion I talk about my career in B2B sales and even training sales associates in cold calling. Never know, that may be a podcast I do in the future! Here's to your success!

  • Episode 16 - Where will Facebook be in five years and how will we adapt?

    28/02/2018 Duración: 02min

During a meeting with a small business owner today, we discussed cable TV, social media and YouTube. We also discussed how the market is reacting to changes in technology, and even how our own parents are adapting. That led me to thinking, "Where will Facebook be in five years and how will we adapt?" I'd love to get your feedback and thoughts.

  • Episode 28 - Parkland Shooting & Creating Sound Policy

    28/02/2018 Duración: 13min

On this episode I take a different path from what I normally talk about in being an entrepreneur and social media marketing manager, and I decided to bring a little bit of my mayor background to the news topic of the day. Our country is having a major dialogue on policy as it relates to the school shooting in Florida and I want to weigh in on how we as a nation and state and local government should create sound policy that affects all of us. Maybe today's episode sparks some emotion in you that you either agree or disagree with my thoughts, so I would encourage you to give me some constructive feedback and feel free to call in and add to the show. Thank you so much! www.bjmurphy360.com

  • Episode 27 - Campbell University Business School

    26/02/2018 Duración: 41min

By far the most analytical and constructive talk I've given regarding leadership, personal branding, social media, interviewing skills, going all-in on your strengths, and more. The Campbell University Lundy-Fetterman School Of Business students asked questions like: - In talking about goals and standards. Do you have a current goal that you are pursuing? - What was the biggest difference in strategy for the 2005 campaign that you lost versus the 2009 campaign that you won? - What sort of management skills did you use during Hurricanes Irene and Matthew? - You graduated ECU with a business degree. Why was politics your first move versus marketing and building a company like Magic Mile Media? - I want to follow a more passionate route and turn it into a business, what's the one thing that's kept you motivated and driven? Is it the fear of not having enough resources or not having enough to provide for your family? - I'm much younger than anyone I work with and I do social media and mar
