  • BLASST #45: Patrick Garcia

    08/06/2018 Duración: 01h46min

With an ear for new and innovative artists, Patrick Garcia's booking work as well as his curation with the music venue Yerberia Cultura have contributed greatly to the growth and maturity of the Rio Grande Valley music scene and effectively put it "on the map" as far as the rest of the country is concerned, with the amount of touring artists coming through town tenfold the amount it was ten years ago. He's responsible for introducing me to a community of artists at 19 that I would come to love, admire, and learn many things from on my journey to becoming one of them, and has supported me ever since. I've been privileged to call him a friend, a roommate, and an inspiration in that time. Following the recent announcement of his decision to step down as co-owner and curator at Yerberia Cultura, I sat down with him at my apt in McAllen, a.k.a. "the studio" to talk about his decision and more over some cool-to-room-temperature Coors Lights.

Apologies for going off the air last week, moving takes a while and ate up all of my time. Today's episode features a dazzling display of talent, tracks by DEZORAH, She Returns From War, Preoccupations, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Sun Ra & His Intergalactic Arkestra, as well as a special vignette for the late, great Glenn Branca among the rubble. Check out our back episodes on Mixcloud.com/BLASST and follow us on Instagram: @u_punk !

  • BLASST #42: DEZORAH

    11/05/2018 Duración: 02h38min

Today's episode brings you BLASST's first interview in almost a year! Our guests are the Rio Grande Valley's premiere post-progressive rock group, DEZORAH. The band sits down to discuss their upcoming EP, Creando Azul, touring, and everything from their favorite video games to their love for hot sauce and System of a Down. Crack open a cold one, microwave those leftovers, and drown them in some Mad Dog 357. This is a HOT ONE.
