Well this recording came off the back of a really nice phone call I received earlier this year.. I first met Insa in early 2004, he had a show in Brighton and visited the gallery with from what I remember Anie, our shared acquaintance.. That year has turned out to be a very important year for Insa, wasn’t too bad for me either actually, but in 2004 Insa stated to paint his iconic heels.. 15 years ago.. geesuss that felt fast! So, the reason for the call, Insa Studios were making a film about 15 years of the heels and they wanted me to interview Insa on it and do a little voice over…Check me out! Insa’s all was lovely, we chat maybe yearly by bi yearly, a few coffees over the years, couple of business explorations and he’d been listening to the podcast and thought I was the guy for the job.. We agreed to him doing the podcast also and I got on a main line train outta St Pancras on a sunny Thursday morning down to the south coast to visit Insa at his studio and get these recordings done. This week Marcus Barnes, an author, music journalist and graffiti artist. His graffiti name has been in my vision for about 15 years now, a prolific train painter from South London. We met a couple times over the years but never properly and having him come round here was dope. The last time we spoke was at Aset’s funeral and I talk about it towards the end of the podcast, that conversation made me really want to know more about him and I’ve so grateful he came round and shared his story with us. I’ve been away working on an amazing project in Dublin, my second building for the Iconic Offices company over there and with help from my good friend Omin, my Irish OG, I built a great team to work with me on the artwork I designed and also work alongside a wide array of dope Irish artists to produce their own work also throughout the refurbished building. I had a great time, dope team and beautiful city.. I loved it, my mums from there also, so some roots were felt. Whilst I was there, I recorded this, I wanted to record more but we were putting in 16hr days but I did get this, a chat with two legends, one from just outside Dublin, Rask and one from Belfast, Moves. This was dope, it came together as King Rask knew I was in town working and hollered about painting on the one day I had off so I ended up doing a wall in town with Moves who painted the word Toar, he dropped me a couple colours and we schemed pieces and backgrounded the wall. Back again… and this week I had Mysdiggi and as some of you know him by Mystro, UK Hip Hop legend, he’s been in the game for years and surpassed the 10’000 hour rule years ago.. he’s a pro and I've been a fan but never had the chance to really chat to Mys before. We’ve crossed paths, seen each other about and when I saw him at Teach’s show in December I hollered straight away and we worked it out. We have a bit of a different chat this week, for the hour or so there is a lot about current affairs, thoughts on issues, flat earth and community. Mys tells us his experience with Iowaska and we compare with therapy which I love and eventually we get his story and hid first interactions within the UK music scene, near death experiences, MCing to Jungle and Hip Hop, making music, touring the world and his time with Lowlife. P's a true soldier of the culture, relentless, aggressive with it at times through the last 35 years, never stopping.. I spotted some bits local after he'd visited.. He's not on this side of town much so did what he does so well. P brings us on his journey from being a Publicans kid and growing up in those surroundings, what Camden was like in the 80's and 90's and his first interactions with the graffiti even before it was here and how he got the name PIC… We chat about great times with the WRH squad and his adventures with King Robbo running about the city, the amazing friendships he built and a passion for a culture that has never dwindled. From London's most notorious graffiti crews along with many others. His impact on our culture has been felt for two decades, we've seen the amazing panels running through the city, one of the flyest tags hitting the streets in his distinct styles, character full throw ups and legendary stories about him and his crew… what a treat. A UK OG, he's pretty much been there from the beginning of the graffiti culture in the UK but not coming out of London, but Paddock Wood in Kent he's had an intense and interesting relationship with the culture. We go through all the decades graffiti has been in the UK as Skore has been at this since 84, with no breaks. Graffiti is his life, it's him, literally. This week Candie Bandita from GOT came over and we had a great and funny chat. Candie has been involved with the culture since the nineties after coming across Southbank on a school trip. What she saw and the energy she felt there enamoured her and decided to follow it up by getting back there as soon as possible. Candie tells us about the first people she met in the graffiti and skating cultures and what she got from them in the earlier years and we also about where her passion for music comes from. This week.. a London OG, a London Legend, A Londoners Londoner, Jonzi D… It was so so good seeing Jonzi again, we hung for a straight month in summer some 14 years ago, we chatted in different instances over the years but having him come around, take a seat on the sofa and have a chat.. man.. I’ve been wanting to have this since the autumn after the hung out and especially now doing this podcast and have a bit more age behind me .. For those of you that don’t know, Jonzi D and the Hip Hop Culture in the UK go hand in hand. He’s was there at the start, experienced it all, met and became friends with the greatest and got inspired to start a new branch for the culture with his hip hop theatre and also his years of putting on the Breakin Convention. Culture runs through his veins and he spreads the love throughout the whole world. Another amazing conversation, love this.. Enjoy!

We’re going to have a bit of a different one this week, I started working on this podcast idea about 2 years ago, I love podcasts and I love my culture, I know most of you know that and we have so many people with the best of stories so I got it together and recorded some, Jack Murray, Will Robson Scott, Any Gillman, Done London and Jamal Peace, they are the early ones in the series but it took me pretty much a year before I put them out. Anxiety, confidence and making my business and work more important than feeding my soul all came into play and I couldn’t justify spending all the time it’d take to do this. I stored the recordings. Then Jan passed away in late December 2017. I’d known him since the 90’s, properly. It hit hard. The funeral was a few weeks later and I went with my friend and fellow NW6er Sam. It was great to see all these people come to pay respects to Jan. A tearful and yet joyous event full of stories, memories, laughs and tears. He touched a crazy amount of people, we walked his coffin do

This week, I can say I have one of my closet friends at the Studio. To me and many, he's an inspiration, a cultural icon, a style king and also a great dad. It's been a minute since we had our last weekly coffee on upper St. in Angel and actually our last one was in Kentish Town on the strip and it was times like those that really built our relationship it took our conversation to another level and we bonded with our similarities, estate life, young dads and the finding of culture and it's growth into a creative life. As the years have passed and life cracks on and asks more of your day we don't grab as many coffees as we used too but we've always been in contact in some way even though he doesn't have a phone! This is one half of the legendary TaskForce, the Highbury Estate veteran and to me an oracle of life in the North East of our city, Farma G!. He has experienced loads, put himself through a bag load of actions and activities and this was all before he finished school. It was so dope having him round

This week’s chat is with Joe Holbrook a guy I’ve known for pretty much 15 years and I love it when I have a perception about someone, even after knowing them that long and finding out my perception means nada in their life, it wasn’t his reality. I presumed Joe was classically trained, I presumed he got to this stage of his art carrear through conventional ways. Charlie has literally run through London’s hip hop scene.. all the way from a family friends Christmas in the New York in 81, though Soho in the early 90’s, TV shows, record labels, relased music and an accumlination of all his cultural skills to help him though the hard times and help start Run Dem Crew to take on London and the worlds running teams. He used to come down to the shop in Brighton and cop some records and paint every now and then, I also snapped him on polaroid for my collection of friends and visitors to the shop. What he's done since then, loving and respecting a culture, working hard at his game, taking advice and great advice at that from Kings in the UK Hip Hop world like Jehst and proving he can hold his own on stage, corner and meeting rooms. Along the way he may take a psycadelic to keep him clear on his spiritual path and his ferocious nature of putting out albums will have you chilling, amped, questioning and jumping on each go round.
