Second World War child internees reunited....
25/09/2015 Duración: 01minDuring the Second World War, hundreds of British children were interned in camps in Shanghai. When the war ended, the children were brought on board HMS Belfast, and the crew organised a party. Seventy years on, the warship - which is moored on the Thames - has hosted another celebration to commemorate the day. Many of the 'children' from the Shanghai party were there, as well as one surviving member of the crew. BBC London 94.9's David Friend was invited along. http://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/hms-belfast

Calais Migrant Crisis: Is death a risk worth taking?

17/09/2015 Duración: 02minWhat's described as the greatest collection of Soviet spacecraft and artefacts, ever seen outside of Russia, has landed at the Science Museum in South Kensington. Objects include a 5 metre lunar lander which was built in 1969 and kept secret from the world until 1989. There's also a space toilet and shower, and a dog ejector seat. Getting a special preview of the exhibition today was the first woman in space, Valentina Tereshkova. She was reunited with the landing pod which brought her back to earth. Paul Richey was a fighter pilot who, due to injury, spent the Battle of Britain on the ground. 75 years since the Blitz: "These houses were rubble.... "
07/09/2015 Duración: 02minToday marks the seventy-fifth anniversary of the start of the Blitz - the German bombing campaign which lasted from Autumn 1940 to Spring 1941. On the seventh of September 1940 - the Luftwaffe, launched a massive raid on London. More than 350 bombers flew across the Channel from airfields in France and dropped 300 tonnes of bombs on the docks and streets of the East End.
