Passing the Crowns Test
21/03/2021 Duración: 54minThis sermon examines James 1:9–12 and explains how trials test and refine faith, expose the fleeting nature of earthly wealth, and culminate in the promised crown of life for those who love God. It sets out three practical responses: ask God for wisdom in faith; reframe suffering as purposeful discipline that increases hope; and persevere in love until approval. A Christian should listen if seeking biblically grounded encouragement to endure hardship, a clear perspective that contrasts temporal riches with eternal inheritance, and practical guidance for cultivating steadfast faith that bears fruit under pressure.

04-Passing the Crown Tests
21/03/2021 Duración: 55minIn the New Testament, "crowns" are often used to refer to our eternal rewards that in heaven become the offerings the saints lay down before the throne of God as an act of worship. In this passage, James mentiones one of the 4 crowns defined in the New Testament -- the crown of life. That crown is related to our response to trials and testings. There are 3 essential requirements for us to past the tests of our trials. We must ask for wisdom with unwavering faith (the subject of the preceding message). Then we must maintain steadfast hope on our eternal assets and position with Christ. Finally, we need to love God and others so much that we are willing to endure trials for His glory and for a testimony to others.Pastor Robert Rohlin is the executive pastor at First Baptist Church Las Colinas, a family-integrated church in the Baptist Missionary Association. This church focuses on expository preaching to equip fathers to build strong families.

03-Ask for Wisdom: It is essential!
14/03/2021 Duración: 01h04minJames has just told us that we need to intentionally rejoice during times of trials and testings. But that is not easy. In fact, the only way we can do that is if we have wisdom which is the ability to see our circumstances from God's point of view. Pastor Robert Rohlin talks about how praying for wisdom has become a daily practice for the last 40 years. Wisdom enables us to more clearly see the benefits that we can get during our times of testing. 01-James the Slave of Jesus Christ
28/02/2021 Duración: 01h28sPastor Robert Rohlin begins a new verse-by-verse exposition series of the epistle of James. The author was the half-brother of Jesus Christ and the head of the Jerusalem church. This book was written between A.D. 45-48 and is the earliest book of the New Testament. While Paul taught that before God, salvation is by faith in Christ alone, James taught that before men, our salvation is only evident by our behavior. God sees the heart, but men see our works. This is the most imperative book of the New Testament with 54 imperative verbs in 108 verses -- an average of 1 command every 2 verses! We have much to learn from this short epistle. This message focuses on the introductory information about the book and then explains the 4 characteristics we have as slaves of Jesus Christ. Pastor Robert Rohlin is the executive pastor at First Baptist Church Las Colinas, a family-integrated church in the Baptist Missionary Association. This church focuses on expository preaching to equip fathers to build strong families.

05-The Prophet's Praise
21/02/2021 Duración: 01h09minIn this fifth and final message from the book of Habakkuk, the prophet gives reasons why he will choose to praise the Lord regardless of how bad things get for his nation or his personal life. He resolves to praise God because God is always worthy of praise even when we do not understand why He allows certain things to come into our lives. Why did a loved one die? Why is one of your children autistic? Why is another child straying from the faith? These are questions impossible to answer without an eternal perspective. But Habakkuk remembering the great works of God in the past resolves to praise Him in the future no matter what happens. In spite of all circumstances testifying to the contrary, God is always worthy of praise. 04-The Prophets Petitions
14/02/2021 Duración: 53minIn this fourth message from Habakkuk, the prophet ceases his objections to God's actions or inaction. Now he simply offers 2 petitions: (1) God, show your power and glory quickly. (2) God, remember to show mercy to those who repent. This begins one of the most beautiful passages on praise in Scripture. And there is also some interesting information on Michelangelo's statue of Moses. 03-The Prophet's Song of Woes
07/02/2021 Duración: 59minIn this third message from Habakkuk, there is a poetic series of 5 "woes". Each of the first 4 woes has a reason stated for the woe maked with "for." In the middle of these woes is a passage asserting God's glory. The woes also end with a reminder that God is in His temple. Essentially, even in times when God is judging a nation, God is in the midst of the judgment and offering hope to believers that He is still in control and still worthy of worship. 02-The Praise and Objection of Habakkuk
31/01/2021 Duración: 01h09minAfter God answers Habakkuk's first question by telling Habakkuk that the wicked Babylonians were coming to judge Judah, the prophet is left confused. How can a holy God use a wicked foreign nation to judge the people of God? Many Christians are left wondering today how politicians that have committed corruption and fraud are left unpunished. Recent events also so massive fraud by hedge funds in shorting AMC and Game Stop. How are hedge funds able to get away with things that should be illegal and are definitely unethical? And yet, they received no real consequences. Habakkuk first praises God for being eternal, holy, and righteous. But then he asks God to explain how a holy God could use a wicked people to accomplish his will. Pastor Robert Rohlin explains how God does not operate on our time schedule but always stays true to His holy character. God will judge the wicked. He is always righteous and always true to His character and His covenants. Pastor Robert Rohlin is the executive pastor at First Baptist Ch

01-The Burden of Habakkuk: Surrounded by Corruption
24/01/2021 Duración: 54minIn the wake of a hotly contested election fraught with fraud, Pastor Robert Rohlin searches the Scriptures for a biblical perspective on Christians living in a corrupt society. The search leads to Habakkuk. The prophet asks God a series of questions. In this introductory message, Habakkuk asks God, "Why aren't you doing something about all the evil corruption around me?" God answers this question by affirming that He will judge and chasiste Judah for their corruption and that He will use the ungodly and cruel Chaldeans (Babylonians) to do so. This answer will prompt the other questions that spark a dialoge between Habakkuk and his God throughout the rest of the book. Pastor Robert Rohlin is the executive pastor at First Baptist Church Las Coilnas in Irving Texas -- a family integrated church in the Baptist Missionary Association.
