This week, The Doc has Smackdown Live on the brain as the blue team races toward what he feels to be a very important Money in the Bank PPV for the brand's near future.  Jinder Mahal's defense of the WWE Championship takes a backseat to the titular Ladder Match, which seems destined to end the novelty run of the Maharaja and put Smackdown on a better, more credible course.  Who wins MITB?  Also, Doc will give his detailed thoughts on the Smackdown women's division and its Money in the Bank match and run-down the rest of the card in the process.

At Wrestle Kingdom 11, arguably the greatest match in the history of professional wrestling closed the show, as IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada narrowly escaped the challenge of "The Cleaner" Kenny Omega.  Now, just over 5 months later--and just ahead of the first ever New Japan G1 Climax shows--the champion has called out Omega to face him again.  Will Okada's nearly year long reign continue or will Omega be the man to bring New Japan west?  In another rematch from Wrestle Kingdom, Tetsuya Naito is defending his Intercontinental Title against the man still fighting time to remain an Ace, Hiroshi Tanhashi.  Plus, the Best of the Super Juniors winner will challenge Hiromu Takahashi for the Jr Heavyweight Title and War Machine will defend the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Titles against former two-time champs, the sons of Haku, the Guerrillas of Destiny.  

Many have been the surprises in the nine WCW years covered in the legacy series so far. Some of the biggest may coalesce around Slamboree 1997. For instance, Mongo? Not that bad in the ring. Kind of exactly what he is, but the best version of it. (Certainly better than Jeff Jarrett in 1997.) Kevin Greene. At minimum, good for the energy he brings to the ring. Reggie White. Excited to be there and does some moves you would not expect. In other words, as we wait for biggest, more consequential PPVs, there are worse ways to spend a Slamboree than with these celebrities.  It's the return of Ric Flair, the rise of Syxx, and a good ol' time in God's country of Charlotte, North Carolina.

This week, the band is well and truly back together as the long lost founder member Shinobi joins Mav, Maz and 'Plan to break down Extreme Rules and the road to Great Balls Of Fire. This week, The Doc puts the Monday Night Raw brand under the microscope, both its overall performance since the beginning of March when he last offered his quarterly review of the red team and its upcoming PPV, Extreme Rules.  He will offer his State of Raw Address and preview the heavily-gimmicked event; hear how he reaches the conclusion that Smackdown's recent faltering has opened the door for Raw to overtake it as the superior show, but that Raw has been hit-or-miss and in steady decline since a surprisingly engaging Road to WrestleMania 33.  Doc will then take an in-depth look at the 5-Way main-event for Sunday and how he thinks each would match up with Brock Lesnar in July, not just in the ring but in the bigger picture as well.  The 5-Star Preview format returns!
