The big matches from Wrestling Dontaku this year were broken up on three separate dates, with the IWGP Heavyweight Title, Intercontinental Title, and NEVER Openweight TItle all given an opportunity to shine by main eventing one of the cards.  Plus,Ricochet challenged Hiromu Takahashi for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title and War Machine had their first defense of the IWGP (Heavyweight) Tag Titles they won at Sakoru Genesis.  There's also the little matter of Kenny Omega and Tomohiro Ishii--two worthy contenders for the IWGP Heavyweight Title--battling it out in a grudge rematch from the New Japan Cup.

This week, the next cycle of WWE pay-per-view roulette begins; batten down the hatches, folks, because we're in for a steady stream of PPV previews and reviews between now and late July.  Whew!  Doc quite enjoyed the September to December PPV stretch from WWE and is curious to see if WWE can deliver at an equal or better pace (by his count, four strong shows, one average show, and one lousy show).  Payback kicks it off and Doc will provide his preview of this Sunday's Raw-branded event.
