The Dusty Futon was invited by Clint and Biggs Harley-Davidson to record LIVE EPISODES at The 16th Annual May Ride.  This motorcycle Poker Run and After Party event is held every year on Armed Forces Day at Biggs Harley-Davidson in San Marcos, CA.  The event supports the military and their families in San Diego and brings the community together with dozens of venders, crazy stunt shows, and OF COURSE...LOCAL MUSIC!  Find out more at mayride.com SUPER FAN Jason Doering joins us in this first episode of the May Ride Special!  This guy is seriously so excited to be alive and really enjoys life.  This guy seriously LOVES EVERYTHING...except Broccoli.  And even then, he LOVES IT with CHEESE! This Husband and Wife team of Scott and Roxy have spent way too much time together but defy all odds by making it work AND making GREAT MUSIC together!  It started as a gift of a homemade custom Fender Bass and led to this dynamic duo writing music for the ages.  If you like Blues, these guys are for you! They weren't always called Black Market III...their original name, Black Market Baby, was shared by a popular (never heard of them) Punk band from the 80's! PUNK IS NOT DEAD!  These kids from Atomic 99 are set out on proving that.  The "culprit" is a young man names CJ.  This guy formed the band five years ago (when he was 13) and roped Nathan and Hector into playing.  It's not like they where forced...they just didn't know their "assigned" instruments and were happy to play with their good friend CJ! Friend for years, and friends for life... Spicy Kim knows CJ's mom and spends some time chatting it up with her (in case you hear it in the background), but that didn't intimidate CJ from getting a little naughty on the microphone.  Most of it's inferred...but, we know what he's talking about.  These guys have been together for about two years and are already building up a reputation as one of the better young punk bands out there.  Make sure to follow them on Instagram @atomic99sd and bandcamp.com ...you might get to see Hector playing guitar in a Storm Trooper helmet! Matt, Matt, and Marc are all family by blood, and Colton might as well be.  These four boys that make up Electric Mud are hard-working Veterans who make some good-old rock music that'll satisfy many rock lovers need for new music.  Reminiscent of the 70's rock out of LA, these guys brought some new tracks from the album "Dangerous Promises" out now in stores.  It's been nominated as Best Rock Album by the San Diego Music Awards.  The band's first album, they don't really consider it that, is titled "Spark In The Rain" and consists of demo's and singles the band created over their time of jamming.  Working hard to pay for their hobby, two of the brothers run a Demolition company named "Full Throttle," a saying they also use for an upcoming track off of yet another new album coming out soon!  Cousin Matt has a degree in music, and can play nearly any instrument...on top of working as a Music Therapist, and Colton provides the "Country Boy" aspect to the band...you should listen to find out about that.  Brother

Chris Leyva and Mike Dorsey ARE the Falling Doves and they fly onto the Dusty Futon with Big Jon and Spicy Kim.  They brought with them a unique experience for the fan…a RAW DEMO version of a song off of their newest album.  "Falling Doves" kicks ass; however, the version WE got to listen to is definitely more punk influenced.  Chris talks about what it means to sign with a record label; the tradeoff between the resources you're given and giving up some artistic freedoms.  It can be very rewarding...but it's still an important choice regardless.  Have you ever toured and had your drummer cancel on you?  Then your bass player suddenly can't come either?  It happened to Chris and Mike on a tour to Vegas...and the "pick-up" band idea was formed.  They practiced this type of performance for their music and were very happy with it.  They have a different backup band in nearly every country...including Japan!  Falling Doves just recently got back from Japan, where the guys learned about the Japanese culture and the

Roni Lee is our guest on the Futon as we kick off SEASON 6! Tyler is back and hosts Roni along with NEW COHOST Spicy Kim.  Roni talks about the difficulties of being a woman in the male dominated industry of music and shares some intriguing stories from her past. One of her favorite bassists, the sassy and talented Jules Whelpton, was supposed to join her but didn't make it...    In case you didn't know, Roni co-wrote the hit song "I want to be where the boys are" performed by The Runaways, and is a KICK-ASS guitarist!
