Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 159: Summer Game Fest Finale
31/08/2020 Duración: 02h01minGreetings listeners! On this week's episode of the show Joel has been working up a sweat with Beat Saber and beating up people in River City Girls, whereas Kyran has been grappling with the concept of what is a floor and what is a ceiling in the visually distinct puzzle game Manifold Garden. In Dope or Nope we may have reached the conclusion of the Summer Game Fest (Maybe? Who actually knows at this point) with Gamescom officially kicking off online giving us a bunch of new trailers to browse through from both Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live and Future Games Show hosted by David Hayter and Debi Mae West (who you may know better as Solid Snake and Meryl Silverburgh), plus Nintendo shadow drops a new Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase amongst the stacks of rumours opting for chaos instead of order. Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 158: Assembling for some Avenging
24/08/2020 Duración: 02h03minGreetings listeners! On this week's episode of the show we've got a healthy dose of Quest Log, Joel offers up his early impressions on Thunder Lotus' Spiritfarer and how he's finding it, Kyran talks about how they're feeling about the new Battletoads whilst also offering his thoughts on how the game fares a bit further in, and the boys talk about how they found teaming up in the recent open beta for Marvel's Avengers developed by Crystal Dynamics. Meanwhile in the Bonus Round we've got a new list of exciting Nintendo Indies to look forward to after a wonderful Indie World presentation, plus we got our first glimpse at two new DC games. First up was WB Montreal's Gotham Knights, which sees players teaming up in two player co-op as either Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, or Redhood and then we had Rocksteady finally revealing their worst kept secret, that they are working on a Suicide Squad game. In addition, we briefly talk about the controversy over at Rocksteady this past week invol

Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 157: Stumbling Towards Greatness
10/08/2020 Duración: 01h49minGreetings listeners! We are back with another episode of the podcast and this time around we've got more of a tradtional episode for you! Starting if off with a packed Quest Log featuring our brief spoiler free thoughts about Ghost of Tsushima, revelling in the chaos of Fall Guys and individually Joel has conquered Carrion and Kyran has been cruising though a Freaker-filled world in Days Gone. Meanwhile over in Dope or Nope we brutally move through Sony's August State of Play, which focused solely on third party games for PS4 and PSVR, as well as a few updates on known games coming to the PS5. Rocksteady has finally confirmed that they are making that Suicide Squad game that everyone sort of knew they were making, but did so in a tweet with an image wanting us all to look forward to DC's even in a few weeks. Lastly, Nintendo announces their next (and only one with a date) Switch game in the form of Pikmin 3 Deluxe and we look at how insanely successfully that platform and Animal Crossing have been

Dialogue Options Podcast Summer Game Fest Part 4 - Nintendo Partner Showcase, Day of the Devs, and Xbox
29/07/2020 Duración: 01h37minGreetings listeners! We're back with another episode (delayed for a day so Kyran's internet could be fixed) where we'll be covering more of Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest. Up first we have Nintendo's first Partner Showcase, a new initiative going forward where they'll show off select games from their development partners in smaller videos presumably for quicker turnarounds, but we have no idea when the next one will be. Then we've got a second Day of the Devs, featuring updates on some indie games we knew about with some cool new surprises (and SGF concerts both before and after). Lastly, Microsoft steps up to the plate to show off some of their first party offerings including the highly anticipated Halo Infinite. We seem to be nearing the end of Summer Game Fest and we've also got a Quest Log focused episode coming up, along with ideas on episodes focusing solely on games like The Last of Us Part II, Necrobarista and maybe Ghost of Tsushima. Dialogue Options Podcast Summer Game Fest Part 3 - Devolver Digital and Ubisoft Forward
14/07/2020 Duración: 01h40minGreetings listeners! On this week's episode we take a look at some more Summer Game Fest presentations, notably we look at the Devolver Digital and Ubisoft Forward that took place over the weekend. Devolver continue committing to their ridiculous lore and come up with a show that we found pretty entertaining, which helped to alleviate the fact that it was rather light on the game announcements. Easily the most impressive thing about Devolver's presentation was their decision to release the world's first ever "first person marketing experience" in the form of a free-to-play game on Steam called Devolverland, where players get to explore an abandoned convention centre and check out a variety of booths. Ubisoft also had a pretty small show, the big takeaways include deep dives and release dates for both Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, as well as the reveal for Far Cry 6 (pity it had already leaked days prior), in addition to some mobile announcements Joel also talks abou

Dialogue Options Podcast Summer Game Fest Part 2 - The Indie (and EA) Variety Show
29/06/2020 Duración: 01h52minGreetings listeners! Welcome to a brand new episode of the show where we attempt to pick through the MANY streams from the last week and a bit in order to highlight some of the games that called out to us. There were so many games announced and shown across the Guerilla Collective, PC Gamer Show, Future Games Show, EA Play Digital, Day of the Devs, and New Game+ presentations that it would be nearly impossible to cover them all without subjecting us and yourselves to several multiple hour episodes. We highly encourage you to check out the streams themselves, because although these are our picks there were many other games that we didn't get a chance to highlight! So, join us for nearly two hours of pure video game bliss as we go over the trailers that caught our eye, many of which were new announcements (or at least game's we'd never heard of before said streams). As always, if there's anything we missed or something you think we should absolutely keep our eye on, we'd love to hear from

Dialogue Options Podcast Summer Game Fest Part 1 - PlayStation 5 Revealed
12/06/2020 Duración: 01h51minGreetings listeners, It's been a weird couple of weeks and suffice to say it was nice to have video game news to be excited for when Sony announced that they'd rescheduled their highly anticipated reveal for the PlayStation 5. Join us as we break down the games they showed, talk a little about each of them, discuss the console design and finish up by talking about the presentation as a whole. I'll be honest when I say that it feels a little weird posting an episode in the current environment, we encourage you to check out the itch.io Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality or check out this list of useful links to help understanding and getting involved in this movement because Black Lives Matter. Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 156: The Final Fantasy VII Remake Spoilcast
05/06/2020 Duración: 03h09minGreetings listeners, This week is finally the week that we're dropping our Final Fantasy VII Remake spoiler-filled special, featuring three hours of discussion across a bunch of different facets of the game (and definitely not all of them, so expect more if Kyran has his way). So, it should go without saying that if you haven't played Final Fantasy VII Remake you should probably steer clear of this. To bolster the discussion on this very special game Kyran and Joel invited Broderick Gordes of the Hunting Seasons Podcast and their very good friend Benjamin Clark (a big time Final Fantasy VII fan) to break down the game and talk through the characters, gameplay, visuals, ending, and some of our issues we had with the game. Massive shout out to Liam Gordes for setting us in a great recording space, making this episode even better than we could have hoped for it to be. So join us for an episode that we loved doing for a game that we loved playing. As always, feel free to hit us up using the links belo

Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 155: Swimming in Triangles
18/05/2020 Duración: 01h11minGreetings listeners! On this week's show we skip the Quest Log and dive immediately into the Bonus Round to talk about a few of this week's video game announcements. Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest is still kicking along and saw the unveiling of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 (a remastered release for the two classic games) and Epic's first footage of Unreal Engine 5 running on a PlayStation 5. In addition to this Nintendo decided to drop a trailer for Paper Mario: The Origami King out of absolutely nowhere (with a July 17th release date) much to the surprise of everyone and Sony premiered a 18-minute State of Play focusing solely on Ghost of Tsushima. If you want to know more it is absolutely worth looking into this video posted by Epic that walks you through the tech demo and what it is showcasing. It is pretty exciting that we are inching our way closer to the next generation consoles. Want to get in touch with us? Hit us up using any of the links below. Email: contact@dialogueoptions.com We

Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 154: A Brief Glimpse at the Future
12/05/2020 Duración: 01h36minGreetings listeners! On this week's show Joel and Kyran having spent some time punching people in Streets of Rage 4, Joel has been spending some time running along walls in Ghostrunner, and Kyran has taken a trip back to Sotenbori with Yakuza Kiwami 2. Meanwhile, in the Bonus Round we've got several new announcements fresh out of Inside Xbox's May Series X Gameplay Reveal, featuring new trailers for stuff like Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and a bunch of games we'd not even heard of prior to this event. We also talk briefly about upcoming stuff, like Geoff's surprise announcement due to happen this Tuesday night and EA's digital presentation taking place in June. Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 153: Keigh-3 is Coming
04/05/2020 Duración: 01h55minGreetings listeners! Joel has been playing Final Fantasy VII Remake, but unlike Kyran he's spent his first few hours coming at it separated from the heavy nostalgia that Kyran holds for it. He weighs in on how he's finding the story, characters, and combat in these early stages all keeping things pretty spoiler free still (Soon we'll be able to fully spill the beans). Meanwhile we are able to bring back Dope or Nope because the industry is beginning to return to life. We've got EVO 2020's move from local tournament to online and the possibility implications of this decision (Here's a helpful article about delay based and rollback net code and another video from Maximilian Dood about why some Japanese developers don't use it), the strong possibility of Nintendo not having their traditional E3 Direct in June due to difficulties with working from home arrangements, Ubisoft officially announces Assassin's Creed Valhalla with a surprising 8-hour stream of Boss Logic doing the key

Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 152: Of Rats and Men
27/04/2020 Duración: 01h13minGreetings listeners! It's been a quiet several weeks at this stage, both in terms of what we've been playing and what has been going on in the world of video games, so this week's episode is a somewhat lean Quest Log. Joel's been plugging away at Journey to the Savage Planet on Xbox Game Pass (and sells Kyran on at least trying it out but uttering the words "similar to Metroid Prime) and both of our hosts come together to talk about their time with Warhammer: Vermintide 2 over the last week after making the decision to pick it on on a whim. Plenty of rats to the be killed and it turns out we're the guys to get it done. If you want to hit us up then feel free to use the links below! Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 151: A Touching Reunion
14/04/2020 Duración: 01h52minGreetings listeners! We're back with a new episode packed with joy that the Bunny Day event is over, Joel's early impressions of Ace Combat 7 (spoilers: we've got ourselves another Ace Combat fan) and his fleshed out thoughts on Doom Eternal. Meanwhile Kyran's dream finally came true with the release of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake and he's now finished it! You won't find any story spoilers here, especially since it only recently released, but he does touch on some gameplay details including what Hard Mode entails and gets a little too excited about the soundtrack. Meanwhile in our Bonus Round we got our first look at Sony's brand new controller for the PlayStation 5, the DualSense, and The Last of Us Part II has been delayed indefinitely including being pulled from digital storefronts and existing pre-orders being refunded. Lastly, Kyran gives Joel a triple serving of horror rumours including a Resident Evil 4 Remake, details about the future Resident Evil 8,

Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 150: Living On Island Time
30/03/2020 Duración: 01h41minGreetings Listeners! This week on the show we have a chance to talk about our early time with Animal Crossing, which has been serving as a fulfilling distraction from real-world issues that are taking their toll on everyone at the moment. Sometimes it helps to just catch some fish and some bugs in order to sell them to a wealthy raccoon to take your mind off your troubles. Additionally, Joel's been plugging away at DOOM Eternal and Kyran has spent some time with the Resident Evil 3 demo and Persona 5 Royal to fill out some meaty entries in our Quest Log. As of this episode we have officially put together our 150th episode of the Dialogue Options Podcast and we just want to thank you for being with us over the years, we hope you enjoy the show as much as we enjoy putting it together. We hope you are all keeping safe and staying home as much as possible. If you want to get in touch with us, feel free to use the links below. Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 149: Don't Skip Will of the Wisps
22/03/2020 Duración: 01h42minGreetings listeners! We're back with a new episode of the podcast where we are thankful for video games during these uncertain times, Joel gives a quick run down of a game called Roundguard which brings together his love of Peggle and roguelikes. Then both of our hosts come together to gush about Moon Studios' long awaited Ori and the Will of the Wisps. The gameplay, visuals, and music absolutely won us over with another narrative that tugs at the heartstrings, no spoilers from us though! What we can say is that you absolutely shouldn't skip Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Meanwhile, over in the Bonus Round we've got some next gen talk from both Microsoft and Sony as of this week! Mark Cerny presented a deep dive on the tech that powers the PlayStation 5 that was originally intended for GDC but has been re-purposed for the general public as well, and Digital Foundry had a chance to head to Xbox HQ for some Xbox Series X details. Capping off the show we also had a lovely little Nintendo Indie

Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 148: Skies Unknown
15/03/2020 Duración: 01h36minGreetings listeners! This week Kyran is joined by Brendan to talk about a few specific games, firstly Brendan's been spending some time making hard decisions in Frostpunk and Kyran has had his first Ace Combat adventure in Ace Combat 7 and despite a some sloppy story presentation he has walked away happy, lastly there's a pinch of early Ori and the Will of the Wisps hype to round out the Quest Log. Meanwhile, the Bonus Round is packed with a lightning round of some interesting discussion, ranging from the reveal of Baldur's Gate 3, the ESA officially confirming the cancellation of E3 2020, and Kyran buying into some Silent Hill rumours that are almost definitely going to hurt him in the long run but he can't help be a glutton for punishment. Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 147: Joel vs. Jump Force
09/03/2020 Duración: 01h36minGreetings listeners! This week on the show Joel fulfills a friendly wager we had back during the Game Awards last year and endures a few hours with Jump Force, if you want to hear how that went then look no further. Immediately after Kyran and Joel discuss the Final Fantasy VII Remake demo that dropped early last week, mostly for Joel's opinions as you'll be able to look forward to many episodes with Kyran gushing over it. Does the demo sell Joel on a game he doesn't have the same nostalgia for that Kyran does? Meanwhile across in Dope or Nope we've got a couple of game announcements, including new stuff from Harmonix and Frictional Games, and a very interesting leak about some sort of Star Wars game called 'Project Maverick'. What is 'Project Maverick'? Sadly we can only speculate, but join us in hoping for a new Rogue Squadron style title! Plus we briefly discuss the ESA and their stubborn decision to continue with E3 2020 despite the developing situation with COVID-19 and

Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 146: The New Horizon
24/02/2020 Duración: 01h44minGreetings listeners! On this week's show we've been playing a few games and Nintendo were kind enough to offer us some solid Bonus Round content. Kyran fills us in on returning to the battlefield with some new students in Fire Emblem: Three Houses's Cindered Shadows DLC, throws around ridiculous giant energy beams in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, and pile-drives his way through Guacamelee 2. Meanwhile, Joel has been swinging around like a ninja in Kunai and had a chance to check out The Gardens Between. The Bonus Round covers the latest news from Friday's Animal Crossing Direct, which recapped some information we already knew, dropped some new details, and gave Nintendo fans another reason to utter the phrase, "But why Nintendo?" Joel's super excited to get to this deserted island, and Kyran will be there alongside him ready to do whatever it takes to get rid of Tom Nook. 04/02/2020 Duración: 01h23minGreetings listeners, It's finally time for us to sit down and talk about 2019. We took an extra few weeks in January this year to try and squeeze in a few extra games, so that we could truly feel satisfied with our lists. As always there are games that slip through the cracks or some that unfortunately fall short, so if there's anything particular that stood out to you in throughout the year that we didn't talk about then we'd love to hear from you. Both Joel and Kyran have compiled lists of ten games picked from the absolute best games they played in 2019, plus a few bonus shout outs at the start because they just can't help but celebrate as many games as possible. Dialogue Options Podcast Episode 144: Death Stranding Spoiler Special
26/01/2020 Duración: 01h25minGreetings listeners! We're back with another episode, but not just any regular episode. This week we decided to sit down and talk about Death Stranding from Kojima Productions without having to worry about spoiling or talking about it for five consecutive weeks. DEATH STRANDING SPOILERS START AT 00:20:15 If you've played Death Stranding we'd love to hear your thoughts, because this game is such a strange experience that certainly lives up to the divisiveness that was being talked about around its launch. Ultimately, we both walked away pretty happy with our time with the game but the shortcomings are definitely visible. Our Game of the Year content is just around the corner, so please look forward to that. If you've got any 2019 gaming highlights then send some our way using the links below.
