And, to keep Him at the center of our church, we are encouraging our congregation to make 8 commitments. This week, we are talking about the fact that we are committed to Jesus as Savior. Tim Long, one of our missionaries to Mexico, was here Sunday Oct 22 to continue our series on Diversity! The Longs report that, since early October of 2016, migration into Mexico has accelerated at an astonishing pace. The explanation? After the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, many Haitian people “migrated to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in order to help construct the World Cup and Olympic facilities. With the Olympics in Brazil over, these and other migrant workers from neighboring South American countries, including families with young children, have been traveling through South and Central America and into Mexico on their way to seek asylum in the U.S. We hear that 15,000 people have already arrived and 30,000 are on their way, presenting a humanitarian crisis in Mexico.” Long describes the amazing response of Mexican Baptist churches as they began to see these migrant workers entering their cities and neighborhoods: “We are witnessing something beautiful today in Tijuana:

Narrative: Every feel like you life and spiritually have become stagnate? This Sunday we begin a small new teaching series on the book of Jonah. As we discuss chapters 1-3 we learn that to really move forward in our life's and in our spirituality, we must cling to the right thing. The problem: even the most committed Christians don't understand the key to which we must cling. Thus many of us are stuck hanging on to the wrong things. This week, we continue our Eastertide series "The Resurrected Life." Sunday, we looked at the infant church and its 3,000 new believers, we will see that the Resurrected Life is a life devoted to community and see their "Devotion to Community."

This, we will look at two accounts in the life of Christ and we will see how they are connected together, as well as how these events are relevant to us today. In a world where everybody’s personal opinions and personal agendas are valued, we see that Jesus commands us to not only be disciples, but to also make disciples .

This week, we enter the period in the church calendar known as Eastertide as we look forward to Pentecost and Christ's ascension into heaven. During this period we celebrate the resurrection and begin to think about what that great event means for our lives, our congregation, and our community.

Experience a new reality! This Easter, we will learn the seismic shifts in our understanding of what really took place on Resurrection Sunday. They are shifts we must make to realize who we really are, what God created us for, and how to get/offer the most out of life.

This week, as we bring a close to our Lenten season, we will look at three snapshots in the life of Christ to see why certain individuals were always unsuccessful in making Jesus king. Looking at the account of Christ's temptation, the response to Christ's feeding of the five thousand and the Palm Sunday account, we will see total failures at making Jesus king. Good news is, we will see why we can't make Jesus king and receive news that there will be an opportunity to celebrate His coronation. Come this Sunday and dialogue as we share this happening in the life of our Lord.

Lent is the season of preparation. During this time, we prepare our lives and our hearts for the observation of Christ's death and the celebration of the new life that is found in His resurrection. Last week we prepared for this new life as we talked about being born again, not back again to our old ways. This week, we prepare our lives for worship as we look at Christ's interaction with the women at the well.

This week we will continue our series "Learning to Follow Jesus”. Together we will unpack the dialogue between Jesus and Nicodemus in Saint John 3: 1-17 focusing in on Jesus dialogue about the New Birth. We will shine the sermonic spotlight on verses 1-7 as Jesus shares with a inquisitive Nicodemus the importance of being born again. After having established what the New Birth is or what genuinely being born again is we will contrast and compare the difference between being "Born Again and Back Again”. It is a sad indictment in our churches that there are many individuals who are not "Born Again” but "Back Again”. Come this Sunday let us assemble ourselves together to engage in meaningful sermonic dialogue because real preaching is not a monologue but a dialogue between the pulpit and the pew.

This week, we continue our series called "Follow," where we are learning to follow Jesus. This week, we discuss Matthew 6: 5-13 and will learn to pray the way Jesus prayed.

This week, we will take a look at some things that made Jesus say, "Are you kidding me!?" Jesus and the Disciples were incredulous at things that were happening but their focuses were different. Find out what each thought and how it applies to followers of Jesus.

This week, as we look at the way Jesus walked with Peter in the storm, we will discuss the storms of life and examine how this should effect the way we follow Jesus.

This week, we will examine this vignette from the life of Christ to see how we are to be the fuel in the Kingdom of God. We will also see how God wants us to be flavorful and illuminating in this tasteless and darkened world.
