The back and forth seems the norm, yet when parents get on or actually are friends after they split, it seems strange and unfamiliar. This is my take after being told so many times that getting along with my children's father is great but weird. And as always their are some expectations to the rule. But children should not be used to hurt your ex partner, just because they hurt you.

But if you drink the poison, don't expect the other person to die. You cause yourself more pain being obsessed over something the other person is probably not even thinking about.

This is just my side and my emotions on the subject but go in to this knowing that there is always 2 sides to a story.

As he passes his 1 year sobriety he gives an great insight to how its not about the year mark, it's about doing the hard work everyday, doing it for yourself and facing your feelings that you had distracted yourself from. Mental health needs just as much work as the addiction. That with the acceptance of each day as it comes and a great support system, from family, friends and even strangers, you can get there.
