Now Balaam was called a seer, one who sees the future, people with this gift are called a prophet later. And Balaam is called to curse Israel. Balaam enquires of God and is told not to go with the men to curse Israel. When he is offered more money, he keeps enquiring of the Lord, and his desire for money is exposed.
