#8 Self-Care with Krystal Reddick
06/02/2018 Duración: 25minTeacher burn out is real. As educators we take on so many responsibilities and our love of helping children grow is often taken advantage of. In addition to the passion, the tireless work, and the innovation in the classroom, I see so much stress, anxiety, and mental health imbalance in so many fellow educators. Today, I speak to an expert in self-care. Krystal Reddick was an educator for many years. She was a former colleague of mine and someone who has helped me find more balance and self-care in my life as an educator. Her business is called "Total Life Care Coaching" and you can find her on Instagram by the same name. As always thanks for listening, and if you enjoy the show please subscribe and leave a review. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did. Twitter: @MrMarinoTeacher Instagram: mrmarinoteacher Music Credit: Jack! of all Trades

#7 How to Teach Writing
30/01/2018 Duración: 19minThe most revolutionary invention was writing. Sure it's debatable. Maybe agriculture or the internet was more important, but writing has allowed us to immortalize ourselves. Writing was first developed, as far as we know, by the ancient Sumerians, who called it Cuneiform. Their writing started as a way to keep track of food surplus and supplies. Over 4,000 years later the leader of the free world sends out tweets mocking celebrities that can reach every human on the planet no matter where they are…. Nevertheless, teaching writing can be the most frustrating and the most rewarding thing at any level. Main Points Step by step process with examples Intro, Body, Conclusion Claim, Evidence, Reasoning Setting, Character development, Dialogue, Climax, Conclusion Explain problem, explain variables, explain solution Give examples: Students identify what they notice about how the examples do these things (revist this throughout the year) Have a poster to reference all year (cover during assessments) P
