Welcome to 2026! We still haven’t left 1999 here at Podcast 99 as we continue our endless coverage of the notorious Woodstock 99 festival. Matthew remembers everything, against all odds. A true rock and roll veteran who survived both Woodstock 94 and 99. This is a killer way to start the year and one of the absolute beefiest survivor stories we have ever heard.

Welcome to 2026 and another year of Survivor Stories! Woodstock 99 lore continues to grow here at Podcast 99 and this year we start with Daroyl (misspelt by his mother). This guy is a well of information and has a great perspective on the festival. He also experienced a more than rare occurrence of some female attendees turning the tables on their male counterparts.

Our latest survivor hails all the way from New Zealand and was lucky(?) enough to attend Woodstock 99. Not only does Rees remember a ton about his time at the festival, but he also got up every morning and ran up to 10 miles during it. This is a great survivor story to cap off the year, thank you all for listening, happy holidays and we will see you at Woodstock! 

We got another Jeff! Jeff had never been to a festival before Woodstock 99, heck, he had only really been to less than ten concerts! Jeff and a buddy braved the road in a dying car to really just see Metallica, almost dying during Limp Bizkit was an added bonus.

Oxy’s story truly puts the “survivor” in “survivor stories.” At just 18 years old, Oxy flew to America from Hungary in order to attend Woodstock 99, alone, with $80, no tent, no nothin. Holy cow folks, we got another one. This is top-tier survivor stories material here. Jay spent more time in the rave than perhaps anyone else we have interviewed besides Brooke. From mysterious pills, trauma inducing sights, poop, and staph infections, this story has it all. Buckle up and be sure to stay hydrated.

Jeremy attended Woodstock 99 with fellow survivor Joe and had a wildly different time than his soft spoken buddy. Jeremy, a self-described “fat guy and boob guy,” has a great story to tell complete with a trip to the swimmin’ hole and several hits of LSD during Limp Bizkit.

Chris is an accomplished comedy writer and overall rad dude, a rad dude that went to Woodstock 99. Chris’ time at Woodstock 99 was the inspiration for an episode of “Lucas Bros Moving Co” titled “Nutopia.” This is an incredibly cinematic retelling of one hell of a weekend. 

Joe played it safe at Woodstock 99, saving his energy for his favorite bands. He even slept through the riots and woke up to what looked like a warzone. He also attended Woodstock 94 and had a very idyllic time complete with great music and a scary hitchhiker scenario. 

Phil was an avid music fan whose group of friends joined him at Woodstock 99 for what can only be described as a “nice time.” They created a fool-proof meeting system, they had zero trouble with security, they saw tons of music, and they got home safe.
