Crumbs. Fully lost the plot with this one. But oi, just trying me best! Just trying my best to be me, and keep being me, and be nothing but myself. Is that a Macy Gray lyric? MaYbe. Cool. Cool and real nice. CAPTAIN PAUL WATSON - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYZnaSr3TII *** IG @lucky__roland

  • SURFRIDER w/ Damien Cole

    22/04/2021 Duración: 01h58min

“I’m here to put myself out of a job.” Being the National Campaign Director for Surfrider Foundation is a seriously demanding gig. You know how at work sometimes you can have a lazy day, fire off a few emails, make a couple of calls, but really, you know that you’re full tilt mindsurfing some faraway sandbank and only putting in about 40% effort? Yeah, Damo can’t do that. (Probably wouldn’t even if he could.) Because there’s no room for faking it in this fight for Planet Earth! And no one knows the value of authenticity in 2021 better than this bloke. Damo cares about climate change more than anyone you know. Definitely more than our “ministers for the environment”, and probably even more than your friendly-but-slightly-overbearing neighbour who always chews your ear a bit too hard about composting and whatnot. It’s impossible to convey the depth of work Damo Cole is putting into the fight for your future, for your climatic freedom, and that of your kids, and their kids, and their kids’es kids. So pleas

My grandma will be so disappointed in me for this episode I reckon. Probably even my regular ma too. I think I dropped so many more f bombs than usual - maybe Chef Ramsay really is rubbing off on me - but swear words are just too much fun sometimes. Anyway this critical bulletin is pretty much all about surfing, but also covers the following urgent current affairs: - rude people - another run in with Chris Hemsworth - finding soft plastic in recycling bins - lucky rolses’ near miss of a police indictment for indecent exposure. Thanks for tuning in! Leave a review! Tell ya mates! Go get bazzed! Ring ya grandma! Yew *** IG @lucky__roland

    10/03/2021 Duración: 19min

This is an interview with the ABC from during my trip last year and I’m pretty sure I answered um to EVERY question like the cool and not-5-years-old bloke that I am. Thanks to my friend Jack for reaching out and giving me this portal through time! ***>>> @lucky__roland

  • resting bitch face

    04/03/2021 Duración: 44min

I think I really ran my mouth with this one. I’m actually a bit worried this week’s podcast got overly crass, and I know there was an inordinate amount of rude language - one beer instead of my usual pink lemonade and that’s what happens I guess - thing is I can’t really stomach listening back to it to check but I think I talked about Jesus a lot? Which is weird because I’m not Christian. (I don’t think.) And also we talked about how Gordon Ramsay somehow calms me down which I can’t really explain. Anyway. There’s also a new segment called Dumb Shit, and it’s me, the perennial dumb shit, calling myself out for the dumbest environmental shit I’ve been complicit in doing. Cool guy! Nice guy. Stoopid guy. Cool. • “juicy sausage face”

    18/02/2021 Duración: 42min

GOT DREAMS?! Still can’t stop thinking about rubbish. I’ve been thinking heaps about plastic in particular, cause that’s what the most scary rubbish is made of and everything. Plastic in the sea is so gnarly because it must look SO DELICIOUS to marine animals. Think about it. All squidgy, brightly coloured... balloons must look like lollies to turtles. Delicious looking, deadly underwater lollies. Which brings me to also ask what do you think about fake meat burgers and snags and general barbecue fodder? Something about it all feels a little bit suss to me? Anyway enjoy this extremely important broadcast. And if you rate/review/subscribe/share/blaaaaaaah blah blah, you’ll be doing someone a massive favour. (If it the favour for someone doesn’t end up being for the person you share it with, it’ll be for me. So it’ll hopefully be 2 favours in 1, which is mad for your karma and stuff, ok cheers) HEAVY VID ——> https://www.instagram.com/p/CK5qqxnjslt/?igshid=1o4w6pvazrdka

LEAH IS A WEAPON HUMAN. I didn’t actually mean to type that in caps, but then I realised the caps was actually plenty appropriate. I love shooting the breeze with this woman. This particular time we ran through lots of different stuff, from grass angels to pollution. Hey wrinkly old future rols, dial into this with the chip in your head or whatever autonomous thought machine you’ve had installed by 2100... or wait, actually maybe disconnect it. That sounds like a more realistic instruction for 85 years time. The nonsense you said in this recording is almost certainly not allowed anymore. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ WHALE TRACKER IG POST —> https://www.instagram.com/p/CK-71dUMwa2/?igshid=1d1riggij2bv9 STORY —> https://www.abc.net.au/news/science/2021-02-05/marine-life-oceans-noise-pollution-environmental-impact/13109596

GDAAAAAAAAAAAAY 2021 I’ve realised I’m just full tilt obsessed with rubbish, mainly pollution and everything, but also mainly how much of it I can talk. And when I say I love talking to people, OBVIOUSLY I’m including all the people in my head. Cool. And nice! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9i2eZaJsC7g

  • COOL w/ Nick Carroll

    18/12/2020 Duración: 01h21min

Aren’t ambiguous words like “cool” and “weird” kind of unhelpful in their ubiquity? Especially in terms of the power words can have on how depressed or anxious we feel? This was a pretty big way to round out the year for me; easily one of the most meaningful conversations I’ve ever had (let alone recorded). I’m hugely thankful to Nick for making time for me and setting the tone for a challenging and seriously impactful conversation about mental health. I hope this resonates positively somewhere out there, because even if listening to it helps just one person, it will be worth me having almost broken down crying in the middle of it! • SURFING w/ Bob Mctavish

    01/12/2020 Duración: 01h13min

This man is a fair dinkum icon of surfing right across the globe. Mctavish surfboards are revered for their insane quality of craftsmanship, refined over more than 60 years (..!!!) in the shaping bay. Bob is a fizzy, excitable and positive human being who was an absolute pleasure to talk to. I’m not sure you’ll hear a more genuine demonstration of how essential passion is for a meaningful contribution to the planet. This conversation was a treat I’ll never forget! *** www.mctavish.com.au IG @lucky__roland

  • COFFEE w/ Nico Kypreos

    22/11/2020 Duración: 01h22min

Nico Kypreos made me - barista of 11 years, espresso bar owner of 5 - feel like my love for coffee is in fact only a vague interest. This bloke full tilt lives and breathes it. And the most beautiful thing about Nico’s obsession with coffee is what I observed to be his use of it as a vehicle to change his world for the better. Marvell St is the epitome of a mindful enterprise, with every corner of the business scoped and sculpted for purpose and optimum ethics. Sustainability is paramount, right next to insane quality of coffee. So it was a mega treat to slurp some amazing coffee and talk shop with the coffee industry’s answer to Elon Musk. Grab yourself a brew, sit back and geek out with us! *** https://marvellstreet.com/ IG @lucky__roland

  • BELONGING w/ Nidala Barker and Kirilly Lowcock

    15/11/2020 Duración: 01h19min

Talking about the unresolved genocide of Australia’s First Nations is fraught with social peril, not least for a white bloke of insane privilege like me. But I definitely don’t think that’s a valid reason not to discuss it! Truth is, this episode is big. I don’t want you to listen to it because it’s gonna give me another click or play or subscriber or whatever. In context of this conversation, I couldn’t care less about any of that. I want you to listen to this episode because I genuinely want you to consume the wisdom of these women, and their insights as modern indigenous people on why racial inequity is still such a shitfight in this country. Australia is beautiful, but she is culturally broken, and we’re all suffering for it whether we realise it or not. *** IG @lucky__roland

  • ADAPTATION w/ Jimmy Cocking

    07/11/2020 Duración: 47min

Jimmy Cocking heads up the Arid Lands Environment Centre, but only when he’s not directing energy down the myriad of other channels along his equilibrium of environmental integrity. I wanted to talk to him about fracking, amongst the other climatic challenges facing desert communities. The climate is an alarming emergency that for most of the world is happening in slow motion. For some people though, who are responding with maximum and all-consuming urgency, it’s a constant firefight accelerating at a disturbing pace. Jimmy Cocking is one of these people. Jimmy’s walking the talk, and he was so fucking motivating to absorb! *** https://www.alec.org.au/ IG @lucky__roland

  • BIODYNAMICS w/ Paxton Wines

    01/11/2020 Duración: 58min

Biodynamics is like next-level, supercharged organic farming meeting a Harry Potter potions class, with dinkum magical results. A chemical-free, ethically sound, environmentally beneficial method of growing food, using comprehensive land management that focuses on holistic ecosystem health... plus some weird and wonderful natural elixirs to enchant the whole process with utter respect for the complexity of mother nature. To me, biodynamic agriculture feels like the closest thing in the modern world to a legitimate spiritual contract between farmer and earth. It also happens to produce KILLER wine!!! Many thanks to Paxton Wines for this awesome (and delicious) educational experience. • NATIVE GRUB w/ Rayleen Brown

    25/10/2020 Duración: 01h25min

G’daaaaaaaaaay MATES! This episode is with Ngangiwumirr and Arrende woman Rayleen Brown, eminent Australian authority on native food. As far as social efficiency goes, Rayleen’s industry seems like a total no brainer to me. Prioritising wild-harvested native foods with indigenous conservation techniques is such a powerful opportunity to contend with two big problems at the same time! Those problems being 1) healing the as yet conspicuously-unspeakable Australian genocide, in relation to 2) our perpetual deficit of willingness for meaningful climate change action. The Great Australian Suffrage of Environmental Connectivity, volume 2020. Know what I’m getting at? I reckon we need to urgently increase our sustainability efforts, and respecting the expertise of the greatest conservationists in history seems like a bloody obvious start!!! And it begins with food. www.kungkascancook.com.au
