Today Pretty Mike James sits down and discusses Casey Noelle Hubbard and Virginia Nickelson's recent completion of the GORUCK Team Assessment. This year was the first year of a women's division at this event.  Casey and Virginia are a bit of an odd team as they spent a year training together for the Team Assessment virtually with one another.  Sending videos and training plans back and forth on the internet.  Planning, executing, and preparing halfway across the country from each other. Today Boggs gets to talk to one of the newest OCR Strong partner OCR directors, Ed Leon of Frontline OCR.  Frontline is an event put on by a current and former Law Enforcement Officer.  Ed recently retired from law enforcement and the other race director is still active.  Ed explains why they do this race and what it means to him.  Boggs and Ed talk about Amanda Sullivan and how she is such an inspiration to Ed and all people she meets.  One thing a little different about this race is that is you can donate during registration for racer scholarships to allow more LEO, active/retired Military and other first responders to be able to run this race for free.  Frontline is partnered with Operation Enduring Warrior and The Byron Firefighter's Association.  Donations from race entries will be made to these organizations. Today Brother Boggs continues to talk Local Flavors with Race Directors who are still putting events on in 2020.  Robb Mccoy of F.I.T. Challenge is one of those Race Directors.  Not only is Robb still able to put on races, but, he has 5 more this year.  4 trail races and one obstacle.  He kicks off the remainder of the year with the Survival of the F.I.T.est 24 hour trail run on October 24th.  The Trailfecta October 25th - November 26th - December 6th 2020.  And the F.I.T. This month Brother Boggs sits down with Shannon Abraham to talk about her adventure into sobriety.  She's a paramedic that's had to overcome the effects of PTSD while serving her community and growing as a Sober Spartan.  Shannon tells her story of  how she got sober and where Spartan Race came in and how she met Amanda Kelley. Shannon started the non-profit No 911 Left Behind to help with the PTSD/Mental health awareness in the field of first responders. First and foremost, can you like this episode on whatever platform you are using/seeing this? Facebook especially has gone to the wolves with politics and pandemics.  We need to see something uplifting.  Ken's Story is one of the things that's uplifting. Today Mike gets into the Guest Chair and is interviewed by Elliot, Virginia Nickelson's young Spartan.  Elliot is 10 years old and a 6th grader in Everett WA who got into Spartan Races 3 years ago. She is a competitive gymnast who trains year round and is planning on doing her first GORUCK Light this year. She has a heart for the special needs community working with kids with all abilities to play all kinds of sports and do OCR races. Today Lisa gets a chance to talk with Aaron Coffman fresh off the course at Savage Race Chicago.  Aaron got to run the Pro course and step onto the podium for 1st place age group.  Then he went back out and ran the Blitz open.  They discuss some of the safety protocols and the overall race experience.  Aaron and Lisa also review what got him into OCR after years of road racing and how his training style changed for OCR.   Completing the Savage Race on July 25th was his 70th OCR.  His other accolades include: 4 Battleground Mud Runs 1 Conquer the Gauntlet 1 Crusher Race 1 OCR North American Championship 1 OCR World Championship 3 Savage Races (+ 1 or 2 this weekend) 1 Terrain Race 1 Tough Mudder (my first ever obstacle "race") 2 Warrior Dash 54 Spartan Races (4 in 2018; 38 in 2019; 11 so far in 2020 plus a Virtual Trifecta).  Trifectas:  1 in 2018, 9 in 2019, 2 in 2020 (not counting virtuals). 6 of 8 2020 Spartan races ended in a Podium for Aaron.
