National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was interviewed on Scarborough Country, hosted by Joe Scarborough on MSNBC, on March 28, 2006.   Talking about the groundbreaking premiere of HBO's "Big Love," fictional series about Mormon Polygamists, two other guests also appreared in this segment, Megan Basham of Townhall.com and Dina Sansing of US Weekly.  The former, as a writer for a conservative website, tried to suggest that polygamists are not as positive as the show portrayed.  Mark Henkel explained how that assertion was propaganda as he gave the soundbite that the "world is larger than little Mormonland bubble of Arizona and Utah."  The latter, as a writer for an entertainment magazine, and noting the example of Megan Bashan (who had been talking over Mark Henkel with her false narrative claims), commented that the show's intent was to "push the boundaries" to get people ignited and talking. http://www.NationalPolygamyAdvocate.com --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spo

National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was interviewed by Jennifer Dobner for the Associated Press (the AP newswire), on June 3, 2006.  This interview referenced the June 5, 2006, cover of same sex magazine, The Advocate, headlined as "Polygamy and Gay Men."  That article led to the AFA.net calling for a boycott of Ford for its ad on the back cover.  That was followed by a conservative writer from the Heritage Foundation, Stanley Kurtz (who had been on the same TV segment as Mark Henkel on the 700 Club), who had authored a hostile anti-polygamy propaganda article for WordlNetDaily.com.  That later article then became the fodder for yet other hostile anti-polygamy articles such as in the National Review and in CrossTalk.com (the latter writtern by conservative Christian writer & radio nshow host, Albert Mohler).   They all attempted to connect the article in The Advocate (and its content of polyamory) as if that was supposedly representative of UCAP, Unrelated Consenting Adu

National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was interviewed by Stephanie Baker of NBC 17 WNCN-TV of Raleigh, North Carolina, conducted via satellite in the studio of NBC 6 WCSH-TV in Portland, Maine, on November 29, 2007.  The pre-interview occurred on November 7, 2007, with the follow-up call on the next day.  The recording did not pick up the audio of the reporter's questions in the final interview recorded for television. However, Mark Henkel's answers make it self-evident what was being asked. As NBC's Faith & Values Reporter, Stephanie Baker sought to inform an audience in the southern "Bible Belt" geography about the new movement of Christian Polygamy that had/has no connection to Mormon Polygamy at all.  This interview provided numerous powerful soundbites, incuding the following: "There is no such thing in the history of the universe of anybody ever escaping from polygamy. Thats about as ridiculous as saying somebody escaped from monogamy. People escape abuse.  They escape cults.

National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was on FOX 10 Phoenix KSAZ-TV, in Phoenix Arizona, broadcast on May 24, 2016. The report contained clips from a taped interview conducted in the (hired by KSAZ-TV) television network studio of CBS WGME-TV 13 in Portland Maine on April 21, 2016.  While everything else was accurate, this  FOX 10 Phoenix TV news report did make two small mistakes. They said that Mark Henkel "calls himself a National Polygamy Advocate ™" - when he actually IS that.  They also said, "Mark Henkel is an attorney" - when he actually was NOT that.   Notwithstanding those inaccuracies, the interview was otherwise positive and accurate, rightly capturing well over half a dozen of Mark Henkel's excellent soundbites and argumentations.  For one example, explaining how the US Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, on April 11, 2016, had (then-recently) reversed the previously-positive Brown v. National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was interviewed by Jennifer Dobner for the Associated Press (the AP newswire), on May 18, 2006.  Two days earlier, on May 16, 2006, the State Supreme Court of Utah had decided the Utah v. Holm case.  Mark Henkel offered the following soundbite, "National Polygamy organization says the decision criminalizes free speech."  On Page 12, Paragraph 28 of the decision, that court declared, "we conclude that the term 'marry' is not confined to legally recognized marriages."   That is, the free speech act of just saying/purporting to be a polygamist was sufficient to prosecute a polygamist, even if there was no more than one marriage license involved.  Mark Henkel pointed out how most of the media acts like a conspiracy to refuse to let polygamists defend themselves in media reports unless polygamists acquiesce to the media "requests" to put polygamous families and faces on display.  Such all-or-nothing "requests" perilously put such families in ja

National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was interviewed for Fox News by Andrew O'Reilly, on September 4, 2019.  Earlier that week, Utah State Senator Deidre Hederson announced that she would be proposing a new bill in the coming January 2020 session to reduce the crime of polygamy from a felony to an infraction (i.e., equivalent to a parking ticket).  The purpose of the proposed bill would be to empower polygamists to feel safe from prosecution to report real crimes without fear of their families being jailed and separated.  This interview sought Mark Henkel's "take" on this proposed bill.  While being hopeful, he intentionally lowered expectations with pessimism by explaining the larger problem of that geographic area: the religiocentric "Mormonland Bubble" of Utah/Arizona (et al) does not believe in "separation of church and state."  Mark Henkel explained how those ("Mormonland") State governments and nedia all obey the dictates the "mainstream" LDS institution by purposely and alw

National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was interviewed on Keeler in the Morning, hosted by Bill Keeler (and entourage), on WXUR, 92.7 The Drive, in Utica, New York, on January 12, 2010, to discuss issues pertaining to polygamy.  While also being humorous for the show, the host and entourage were consistently positive.  Because the town of Oneida, New York, is nearby to the station, the host brought up the historic "Oneida Community," known from the 1800s as  a "free love community."  Mark Henkel clarified that that concept is not the same as modern UCAP, Unrelated Consenting Adult Polygamy.  The interview went so well that, at one point, the host even declared, "I think, deep down, most women, and I say most not all, deep down, most women would truly like this polygamy thing." National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was interviewed by Westwood One's MetroNetworks' MetroSource Radio News Wire, on August 24, 2001.   Criminal Tom Green, a rogue variant of Mormon Polygamist, had been sentenced for his convicted crimes.  Mark Henkel explained that Tom Green received a 5-year sentence for the charge of criminal non-support, while each of the four remaining 5-year sentences for bigamy were to be served concurrently, and $79,900 had to paid in restitution for the welfare fraud.  Noting the "concurrent" aspect of the sentences for bigamy, Mark Henkel declared the sound-bite, "Tom Green will NOT be serving any ACTUAL time in prison for 'bigamy.'"  Identifying criminal Tom Green as "the polygamy Tim MacVeigh," Mark Henkel explained that normal pro-polygamists had always and loudly opposed the real crimes (criminal non-support and underage crimes) of Tom Green.  At the end of the interview, Mark Henkel additionally detailed the standard of Love-not-Force, differe

National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was interviewed on Bulldog Live on The Pulse, WTPL 107.7 FM, with host Brian Tilton, in Manchester, New Hampshire, on June 10, 2009.  A week earlier, the New Hampshire Governor had signed a then-new same sex marriage bill into law - one of the first few States to do so (following after Maine doing so the month before).
