RowingChat is the first podcast dedicated to the sport of rowing. Produced by the team at Rowperfect UK, it brings world class coaches and athletes close to the the fans by allowing the audience to ask the questions. Each podcast features a different guest and has included participants from UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Each event is published using an Eventbrite signup form and this is where attendees can submit their questions.     Bobbie Smith and Craig Doan talk running a regatta in a pandemic. Timestamps 01:00 The race started in 1973 to prove the West coast crews could beat the East coast US crews. The rowing season starts here with the San Diego Crew Classic. It's on 27 March 2021. 03:00 Popular events are masters, juniors and collegiate events. There are invitational events for collegiate crews and all are 8s, quads and fours racing on the water. This year an erg crew option is also offered. 06:00 This year it's all new. We had 3 plans for the event and hoped for a normal on water regatta. But that was not possible. We are working with Time Team to deliver the team boat erg timing. Instead of averaging a group of erg scores, they constantly merge each athlete's time into a single time for the whole crew so you cross the line together at the same moment. 08:00 On the water races are also offered with two 1,250m pieces raced in opposite directions.
