You’ve been following the sign God has been leading you with, and you are searching and searching and searching. You ask around, “Where is it? Where is the house, the spouse, the thing that God has TOLD me He is guiding me to?” And then you hear it: the voice of Herod, telling you where to go, and he asks you to come back to him when you find it. The voice of the enemy. Herod told the magi where they would find the King of the Jews, and he asked them to return to tell him where Jesus is so he can find Him and “worship” Him. The enemy sent the magi in the right direction. The magi were ONLY 5 miles away from the place where Jesus was. Herod was RIGHT with his directions. When the enemy’s voice enters the scene, do not give up and do not return to him after you reach the destination that God is ultimately leading you to. “How do I find God’s will for my life? How do I know if it’s God’s voice or my voice speaking to me?” Two questions we receive the most as a ministry, and today, Autumn answers them! Luke 1 and 2 are often read during the Christmas season, but there is so much more in it than how most people just read it aloud and call it good. But it is so much deeper and so much more relevant than we might think, because it is a story of how EVERYONE is searching for where Jesus is. Aren’t we doing that today, when we ask what His will is for our lives? King Ahaz was told BY GOD to ask for a sign. Ahaz's mistake was his response, "I will not ask, nor will I test the Lord." If God has told us time and time again throughout Scripture to ask for a sign, who are we to act higher than our need for His compassion? God WANTS to show us His compassion! He WANTS to give us a sign, as He has done countless times before throughout all creation's history. So ask for a sign, especially when the enemy warms you against it. Ask for a sign. The moment a report came to King Ahaz of Judah about a threat being near, he and his people “shook as the trees of the forest shake in the wind.” Ahaz had faced such news before, which ended with 120,000 valiant men slaughtered in one day and 200,000 taken captive. How often do we hear a report, and take it as a FACT before God has shared His final word? We are in a time when God is present with us always through His Spirit, yet when somebody or something sounds the alarm, we become fearful? Especially if we’ve faced it before and it had defeated us. You have got to tell yourself a different story. “Yes, that situation happened in the past, and this report looks just like the first or first few times it happened to me. But this time, I am standing on the Word of the Lord, and He will not be conquered.” The threat will not last. This Thanksgiving message from Autumn is for those of you who feel distant from God. Something is making you feel distant. Maybe it’s a spiritual block, and that block has pushed you to stand at a distance away from God. You show up at church, you pray, you do all the things, but you’re far away. When Jesus met with the 10 lepers, it was not by accident. Jesus did not coincidentally come across them, He MET them on their way to where they were going between Samaria and Galilee. These leprous men didn’t ask for healing. Instead, they called out for mercy. What did God’s mercy look like to them? “Go and show.” Jesus gave them directions to their mercy. Maybe, what we think God’s mercy “should” look like isn’t what God’s mercy ACTUALLY is. Do you think God knows what our souls actually need? Do you think, if you asked, our merciful God will give you directions to receive His mercy? In Matthew 8, we can read of a city that has learned to coexist with two demon-possessed men, and they have changed their ways of traveling, settling, and even where they take their herds because of how violent these men are. We read how Jesus comes in, immediately casts them into a herd of nearby pigs, and the problem for this entire city is solved. We think, “That’s great!” The city’s people, on the contrary, come out and implore him to leave. They would rather coexist with the demons and have their pigs than live without the problem, this stronghold that had taken place and affected their way of living. We could think, “Aren’t they grateful he did that for them?” But what about that stronghold within you? Have you buried something SO DEEP, it is a no-fly zone for ANYBODY to go there? What if, in one word, Jesus could completely root that out and heal you from that deep-set trauma, burden, pain, whatever it is? When the disciples were in the fourth watch of the night, rowing against the wind, they were straining. They had gotten to a point where they were getting tired, they were getting weary, they were wondering when it would stop, when the wind would stop being contrary against them. They were only in the middle of the lake. They were only in the middle of the challenge, a trial. Are you in the middle of a trial? Are your arms getting tired of straining against the wind? Are you thinking to yourself, “I just need a miracle for this to end, I don’t have anything left to keep rowing.” What if, that door you’ve said couldn’t be the miracle of your deliverance, whether it was out of fear or it looked scary to you, is actually God trying to give you that miracle? That thing that you are straining against, that miracle you’re waiting for, God sees you straining. Can you relate? You have a problem, a financial problem, and you know a solution that would work. So you pray, “Lord, if you would just provide a raise, or if you would give me a promotion or a new job, then the problem will be solved. Can you give me one of those things, God?” You ask God to follow those instructions, but God is not the kind of miracle worker to work within your limits or expectations. That defeats the purpose of a miracle that can’t be explained. When Jesus and the disciples found that they had a problem, that thousands of people who listened to Jesus speak were hungry, the disciples came up with a solution and told Jesus to send them away. Do you know what Jesus did? He did not tell them, “Great idea, guys, I will send them away.” He said, “Give me what you have.” And He did the miraculous, something unexplainable by anybody. Maybe you are at the point of giving up. Maybe you’re at the point of quitting. Jairus’s daughter was at the POINT of death. Jairus went to Jesus and implored him earnestly to just lay hands on his daughter so she would be well again. What Jesus did was not only shut the mouths of those unbelieving of His power and authority over sickness and death, but He laid His hands on what LOOKED like an impossible situation and brought LIFE back into it. What Jesus told the little girl, “talitha kum,” “little girl, I say to you, get up,” He is saying to you today. It’s time to get up. What looks over actually isn’t. Are you holding on to a plan B as a way out in case WHAT God called you to goes wrong or gets too heavy to keep carrying? Or, Are you wondering if God will truly come through when what He asked of you is hard? When the Scriptures introduce us to Elisha, we are given a picture of his life the moment Elijah laid his mantle on him to anoint him as his successor as a prophet of God. Elisha had wealth, stability, and success when we first meet him in Scripture. But does he keep his oxen and plowing instruments as a backup plan, in case the mantle Elijah threw on him gets too heavy? NO! He completely destroys any chance for the enemy to tempt him to turn away from God’s calling on his life. We are commanded to seek first the kingdom of heaven, not to figure out what to do if things get too hard. When things go wrong in your life and are taken away, rather than ditching your faith, you hold more tightly to it. Why? Because God is a RESTORER. Nothing is too far gone for Him to restore. Do you know what He needs to restore something? NOTHING! Not only does He restore physical things, but He restores relationships, reputations, and emotions. God will even promise a double portion in exchange for your shame. Why? This is for those of you who are thinking, “God has abandoned me! I have been faithful, but God, I can't hear you.” You may be praying this: “God, WHERE ARE YOU? I need a word from You today, right now, because after facing ALL of this hardship, all of these trials, I need You now. Answer me, answer me!” Job wailed and cried and called out to God, he lamented for something to change for chapters on end. Job never prayed for his things back. He explicitly said, “Let the Almighty answer me” (Job 31:35). But finally, when God DID speak, Job was floored at what God Himself had to say to Job. And it was all that Job needed. Can we really tell Him all we think? Does this sound like you: you’ve been putting up a face before your friends, pretending that things are better than they actually are. You’ve withheld telling your true feelings to others, out of fear for what they would think of you. You’re going through the motions of the day without really digging deep into the reality of what you’re experiencing. If you are doing this to those close to you, odds are, you may be doing this to God about what you’re really feeling, too. God will NEVER think less of you because you have feelings of anger, sadness, confusion, and other unpretty emotions – that is the human experience! Job was described to have not sinned while he LAMENTED before the Lord. David did the same thing in Psalms. Speaking truth is never a sin! God wants to hear your heart, believer. Today, we begin part one of the book of JOB, maybe one of the hardest books in the Bible to process. Autumn will unpack the hardship allowed in his life and the why behind it. Job faced nightmare upon nightmare upon nightmare. How could God have let such terrible things happen to a man who was found blameless, upright, fearing God, turning away evil, and faithful enough to be known in heaven as a celebrity of faith? When you ask yourself, “God, where are you in all of this?” When you begin to question, “Am I doing this for me, or am I doing this for God?” When your faith is beginning to seem not worth it anymore, this is the time to fight for it the most. The enemy’s goal is to separate you from God, but God chose you for this because of your faith. Cling to the Lord. You are a prayer powerhouse. You pray for your friends to have kids, you pray for your friends to get financial peace, you pray for your sister and her husband to get a house and the right rates, and their prayers that you’ve prayed with them are answered. You are faithful to the Lord, you tithe, you go to church, you’re righteous, you serve at church, and you’ve been praying for something for FOREVER. But your prayer hasn’t happened yet. For some reason, your prayer hasn’t been answered yet, and you have sat by and watched those around you get their prayers answered except for yours. What is up with that? Know that you are not the only one to have experienced this. Zacharias and Elizabeth have been in your shoes, on their knees, in petition before the Lord to answer their prayer for a child. The thing is, God didn’t answer them immediately. Rather, God delayed answering so that He could give them ABUNDANTLY MORE than they could have ever thought or imagined. In between seasons, it is SO important that you handle the old season to prepare for the new season. God has prepared you and the next season, but you must also do your part. The Israelites had to destroy the old things that were left by other nations in the Promised Land, so that they could embrace the new season of settling into the Promised Land. What happened when they didn’t? The things that Israel didn’t destroy and didn’t take the opportunity to do became thorns in their sides and pricks in their eyes. Take the opportunity NOW to handle and dispossess the old season so you can embrace the new season.    Monologue: Autumn talks about how buying school supplies for her kids this year went.  Message: After the break, Autumn describes how believers are called to dispossess the old and things from the past in order to move forward into the new season, as keeping those things will hurt and harm believers in the new season, and the importance of placing memory stones as God brings you through the new season.

God has called you to do something, but there’s a problem: you’re BLOCKED. You are facing insecurity in yourself, you have enemies calling you names, your friends have turned against you, or literal obstacles are blocking your way to keep going forward. These blocks or stops are no stranger to God. In fact, you may not even realize He led you there to gain wisdom from facing the blocks.  Moses faced the same things in his lifetime, and we as believers will all face the same ones probably multiple times in our lives! So HOW do we move forward? We stand against them, and God acts. We obey His Word, and God acts.
